The only way to get it back that I'm aware of is to do a hard reset.

I'm pretty sure they even warn you before removing your phone that the only way to register your phone again is after a hard reset.

On a similar note, does anyone know if you lose your purchase history (including paid apps) if you remove all the phones from your account?

which method is best for hard reset in this case??
    - settings- about - reset
    or
by keys to reset which are as follows-
    1. Make sure the charger is disconnected, and switch the phone off.
    2. Press and hold the volume down key, and connect the charger. An exclamation mark (!) is shown on the screen.
    3. Press the keys in the following order: volume up, volume down, power, and volume down. Your phone resets, and boots up. This may take several minutes

They are both methods for hard reset. The key combination exists in case you cannot use the phone to go to settings --> about --> reset

It always is a possibility, but I've never faced any problems when hard resetting my Lumia 520. Give it ten-fifteen minutes before starting to panic. If, for some reason, it gets bricked, you can either go to a Nokia Care Centre, or use the Nokia Software Updater to fix it.
