    Hey everyone,

First I'd like to say that I'm posting on this general forum because I think this WhatsApp situation (i.e., missing from the store) has a much bigger potential impact than it's being given credit for. I am shocked to see that this app has been MIA for 1, 2 weeks and it's being addressed so cavalierly by most. Granted, a few people are freaking out on the forums, but most, including the writers of WPCentral, have expressed their discontentment and moved on. Maybe it's because most WPC users and writers are U.S. based and aren't affected much by the problem, as I usually see comments such as "I only use SMS and I don't even know anyone who uses WhatsApp" coming from American users, but that doesn't change the fact that WA is arguably the most important app today on a global scale, and it's not a fad like Instagram, it's REALLY used as a primary means of communication in many parts of the world, including Brazil, where I'm located. This is an absolute tragedy for Windows Phone, and I really don't think I'm being overly dramatic, I do believe the situation is that serious. Here in Brazil, not being on WhatsApp is the virtual equivalent of moving to a desert island, and I know the situation is similar in many, many countries. In spite of that, both WhatApp and Microsoft (they are to blame as well, by coming forth and then staying mum) are allowing new Windows Phone users to be deprived of this app, making the platform as a whole discredited. I can't wrap my head around this absurd situation where one of the most important apps being pulled from the store is not only a distant possibility, but has actually materialized. Maybe it will be restored today, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, but the damage is done. I was trying to get 2 people in my family to switch to WP8 (one from Symbian, one from Android), but luckily they haven't taken the plunge, and I will make sure they don't, because who knows what might happen next. That shadow will always be there for me from now on, and I AM a WP8 supporter, imagine if I weren't.

Thanks for reading, I know writing this won't change anything at all in the general context, but I needed to say something.
    -Giuliano

Buying a phone that's near $600 in some markets and having no WhatsApp in India or Brazil or the UK. Suicide!!!

If your friends won't download another App to stay in communication, they aren't real friends.

If this issue was on Android or iPhone it would have been resolved in under 24 hrs

Work group messaging? WhatsApp is not only for your girlfriend. You get a Lumia phone and you won't make 10 people in a group messaging room to move over to kik. It's so immature

I don't know about Line and Telegram (I suppose they are ok), but Kik is not updated since ages on WP and Skype (shame on Microsoft) is completely unreliable to be used for messaging, while FB messaging is slooow as hell.

Anyway, I don't only agree with the OP, but I also call BS on the whole "we found a bug and we pulled it from the store" story.

Whatsapp has always been buggy, and they never cared. With the update to 8.1, it only got slightly more buggy, but it is still completely usable for those who did not uninstall it. No one has really seen a sign of this mysterious critical bug that forced them to pull it. Plus, they said the bug was only about 8.0, but they pulled from 8.1 as well. We all know there is a working private beta, but they did not make it public.

To me, all this is a deliberate attempt to discredit WP. Few more weeks without WA, and no matter whose fault it is, people who bought a 630 will be really upset, they will tell their friend, and WP will have the "don't buy it, it doesn't have whatsapp" mark that will hurt for years.

Actually, I really start seeing why Facebook spent all that money for WA...

MS should work harder to fix this, or should I say faster. Pour some money (pocket money for them) and even make their own app if there is no fix, just like they did with facebook app. I guess facebook doesn't care much about WP, and now that whatsapp is owned by facebook... no surprise

It's always been on my phone 📞. Never knew it was missing from the store until three days ago. This only affects new Windows phone users right?
