    Hello guys!

Ok, so I am really really worried because I haven't seen anything about this virus being on Windows Phone on the internet. It's the Tapsnake virus or a scam or whatever. I was looking through this site undie-fan-99.tumblr.com (don't judge me plz) and a message like the one on android appeared

    ANDROID VIRUS DETECTED

A site you recently visited has infected your phone with (Trojan: MobileOS/Tapsnake)

Press OK to remove the threat.

It has lead me to the ilovemobi.com website to buy some sort of antivirus.

The thing is that the page with the virus only comes on that website and now, I have refreshed it, and nothing else appears.

Can anyone tell me if something happened with my phone and what can I do to eliminate this virus (if it's a virus after all)? Thank you so much

Wait, so nothing funny has happened? Might have just been a dumb ad. Mess with your phone for a while and see if anything fishy happens.

    Good luck!

Not your phone, just some nasty bit of code on the website. Call it scareware. Going to another blog shouldn't be affected

Please note WP apps are sandboxed hence apps cannot interfere with system core files and yes there is obviously no virus support in WP so calm down and enjoy the WP experience.😉

I don't know if Windows Defender or an antivirus can scan your WP files once you plug it into a PC but maybe someone here can tell you. Anyway if you have "Allow sites to store files on my phone" (Internet Explorer settings>Advanced Settings) unchecked you should be good. Also, if its checked uncheck it and delete the files by checking"Manage storage" or by deleting your temporary files. Lastly, please don't click on any prompts in the future, even the "WARNING" popups... Just exit out if you're not sure, but don't click on any prompts to "help" your phone. Trust me, they don't want to help you! Anyway, hope all is well with your device.

No, this is for people who they can trick. I can make an ad say "people are hacking your phone through your microwave" and some people would believe it. This isn't even something that would mess with Android, unless they clicked and installed something from these morons. The site just detected that you were on a phone, and didn't have a procedure in place for WP, so it says something like "Hm, s/he's not on an iPhone, must be Android, let me send them the Android scare".

Exactly! OP, just know that popups like that are not a system message/alert. NEVER click on anything like that...if you're worried that your phone has been compromised (regardless of OS) then scan/delete files yourself by a trusted source not from a random unknown site.

If I had a popular site, I'd put a scareware message on it that says,

[WARN]This site has detected that your phone contains malware that collects your personal information for money making purposes. The virus is called Android, and you can protect yourself by switching to a Windows Phone handset.[/WARN]

Aren't viruses meant to be small and efficient in what they do? I wouldn't personally call Android either of those.

If you did that, your website wouldn't be popular for very long.
