A friend with an Android 'phone has texted me to say that her 'phone has a virus and has asked me to delete all texts on my 'phone (because they will have been infected), from all my contacts and to text everyone who I have contacted in the past week to tell them to do the same. She then wants me to text her when I have done this and she will send me a 'clean' text to confirm receipt.

Is this necessary? Would it 'disinfect' my Windows Phone anyway?

It's most probably a hoax that was sent to her. You can only transfer text via SMS, and media via MMS.
