I had to restore my iphone x and I can now only see scans I have made from last year but cannot see this years scans.

Maybe the date nomeclature must have changed. Attach to your PC/Mac and check in the file explorer

Are you sure that your photos (I assume that's what you are referring to here as 'scans') was even backed up from your old iPhone to say iCloud? If not, and you restored your iPhone, those photos are gone and you cannot get them back.
