I've recently switched from Android to WP7 and love the platform in general. however, one of my most used applications was 'fotmob' for android which not only did football fixtures and scores, but did real-time goal notifications even when the app wasn't running. This worked like a charm and really became my favourite app.

There are several live soccer score apps in the marketplace, some free and some paid, but none that i've tried actually work to any degree of satisfaction. Goal notifications arrive dozens of minutes or even hours late (if at all!) and the general look and feel of the apps are pretty poor. I haven't tried any of the paid offerings yet as most dont have trials. I dont mind paying for the right one, but wondered if anyone could recommend the best one on the platform for me to purchase/download?

Thanks

I don't know if Pro Sports Scores does soccer, but I used it a lot during baseball season. The live tile was amazing. 10 second refresh rate.

What phone do you have? The ESPN app has live update messages sent to you as well as the live tile - however the app is different between the WP7 devices. My old HD7 didnt get the updates but my friends Lumia 800 version of the app did.

I use Premier Leagues+ which is a paid app. It works really well & has a live tile for your favorite team(s) which updates as goals are scored, as well as toasts which come in really fast. I can recommend it. At the moment my live tile is showing Glasgow Celtic 2..... Barcelona 1. As well as this, it has all sorts of stats & shows League positions & fixtures etc. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. The dev is responsive & very helpful & will add feature requests you may suggest.

I have tried all the Football apps I could find and like you say no app has good working notifications, I dont know why its so damn hard to build this for WP. Hopefully it will get better for WP8. Im looking forward to that ESPN app with live wallpaper.

Right now Im jumping between ESPN Scorecenter (No notifications), Football Pro '13 (Nice design, you can pin your Fav Team dont know if Live Tile shows live scores tho), NFL Live (Live Tile for teams, dont know if they show live scores yet)
I never tried Pro Sports Scores, I will try it out, looks promising, too bad about the boring design.

edit: oops, didnt realize it was about soccer. :)

SportsScores, not Pro Sports Scores has a very nice Live Tile that updates every few minutes. It allows you to put up to four teams on it (two front/Two back). I've got all the Dallas teams on there, although 3 of the five aren't playing (Texas Ranges, Dallas Stars, FC Dallas). It will also tell you what date that teams next game is and at what time.

Tapping on an ongoing game will bring up the ESPN stats page in-app. So, it doesn't take you out of the app to see the info. It supports 11 sports (US only) including college. I think it is $.99 in the store.

But, I've had this on my phone for nearly two years and found it to be a great way to keep up with game scores and stats on-the-go. And, definitely great for not having to open an app to check out the scores.
