Xbox Account on Windows Phone Switch

I hope im posting this in the right section.

I managed to switch my Microsoft account linked to my phone to the actual gamertag I use for the xbox. However, it has not updated to the gamertag that I switched it to. It is still showing the old gamertag and cant connect to the xbox. It worked on my Surface Pro but not on my phone. I've tried a soft reset and turning it off with no luck. What else can I do?

Try going to settings>email+accounts and unlink then relink your Microsoft Account.

Tried this and restarted the phone and it's still linked to the old gamertag.

I think you need to use Xbox to do this. At least i had to when i did it, i didn't even have Xbox at taht time but i visited my friend and was able to solve the problem in 15 minutes. It's kind of hassle though...
