Nokia Lumia 920 review - Pocket-lint

It's heavy, like really heavy...That's the first thing you'll notice from the Nokia Lumia 920 and the first thing everyone we've given it to hold has immediately said to us. Asked to describe the phone in one word, it's not good. We've had "brick" we've had "weighty", we've had "chocolate bar" we've even had "tombstone

This is a phone that is so heavy you won't want to use it with just one hand. It's uncomfortable to hold for any length of time and in a world where phones are getting lighter and lighter, we're amazed Nokia believes it can get away with it.".

Stunning. That's probably the best word to use when describing the Lumia 920's PureView camera, especially when looking at low-light shots - something the Lumia 920 specialises in.
In a series of tests against the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S III, the Nokia Lumia 920 out-performs other phones every time, giving you shots you can use with little noise.

It really is the equivalent of night and day. It's not perfect of course, but we are amazed just how well the camera phone performed. If low-light shooting is your thing, this is the phone to get - we can't stress that enough.

Verdit:

The Nokia Lumia 920 is the best smartphone for taking pictures in low light. It features one of the best smartphone experiences when it comes to the core software. Rooms, Maps, People Hub, Kids Corner, and customisable Lock Screens all make this a cracking phone.

The 920 also has one of the best displays in the industry. Images are vivid and you can use it with your gloves on.

But?

It's is so heavy it will hamper you wanting to use it single-handed. It's so big and slab-like that it carries little kudos or cool factor. No-one we've shown it too liked the look or design of the phone.

This isn't an iPhone or Android killer, and given the choice over this or the HTC 8X we would have to pick HTC.

We had high hopes for the 920, and while individual elements are great, we have come away bitterly disappointed with the overall package.

Now for my opinion: In the review there's good pictures comparisons and in they also review some of the extras that make the 920 important. Glove usage, wireless charging and exclusive apps.

I was able to pick up a dummy phone in my local shop and I'm not sure if its because it was a dummy phone and not the right weight or whatever, but the 920 really wasn't as heavy as I thought it'd be.

I wanted to see more picture comparisons rather than just taking their word for it.

It depends on the people. Everyone I've personally talked to who has had hands on with the thing (includes myself without actually talking to myself) certainly do not find the weight "too much to be held with one hand for any period of time". In fact, most of said people liked the weight or were fairly neutral about it.

I guess these people dont even lift! (neither do I )

I totally understand if some people don't like the weight. But dang, they went overboard. Subtracting a whole point?

I don't know if they realize that most toddlers are able to handle this with no problem.

Is still a huge, heavy device. The Iphone 5 could comfortably fit inside it, for that review it was too much.

Well I suppose it's their opinion, so they can score it how they want, but they make it sound like it weighs like a brick.

But instead, I've heard half the people say 185g, that's too heavy (though many probably haven't held the device).

And the other half who has held the device says, I don't really notice it. It feels the same as a Lumia 900.

So I'm reserving judgement until I hold one myself.

Well, check out their Galaxy Note 2 review,which weighs same as Lumia 920 and has higher dimensions than lumia 920. They never mentioned it's bulky,large, big or heavy in the negatives. Actually they said "Big Love" in the Heading and further said "Not too big" in the second paragraph heading. And given 4.5 score for that.

But for Lumia 920, they praised everything. Only negative they said was "Bulky in multiple words" and given 3 stars. Which is ridiculous.

That was a terrible verdict. Everything is great....except it is heavy. Grow a pair, man up, and learn to hold 185g.

Well the note is pretty thin, that helps the pocketability.

No matter the screen size. They weight is the weight anyway. If two phones are 100g, both will feel as the 100 grams no matter what's buries inside. If 185g is heavy, then 185g is heavy. Will it feel less weight,because it is android?

Or if you want a stylish phone, buy the 8x. If you don't wear a pocket protector, buy the 8x. If you have a wife/girlfriend, or both buy an 8x.
