Was all set on buying the Lumia 820 in 10 days time, and now Nokia announces the 720 with a better screen, better front facing camera, probably with better rear camera capability (f/1.9 aperture) and better battery life. But it's expected to arrive in Q2 in India, that's a long time to wait! Will the 512MB extra RAM and the superior processor on the 820 have a say in the long run? Put yourselves in my shoes, would you wait for a couple of months or go for the 820?

then go for , Lumia 820 . what is like is the finish nokia has done a very good job on the finish. well Screen I would say is more than enough. And when i use it a lot it tends to heat up a bit ( like 45 mins of video chat on Skype ) guess that's normal all smart phones would. But its a delicate darling kept iin my back pocket and the sceen broke . it was not even a month and its already has gone for replacement, u need to be careful the pressure should not be excreted on the sides .

Take a look at the release schedule. If it gets announced and then takes quite a while to reach India for release then I would settle for an 820 rather than waiting. Point is that if this is the case, Nokia will release something even better than the 720 by the time you get a chance to purchase the 720. However, if you've simply been holding off, I'd hold off for longer. You get more features + the value of the 720 will be higher at that point in time vs. the 820.

I'd say 820. If you're worried of the screen endurance just buy a official protective shell(matte with black edges) and optionally a film to cover it. Seriously the matte shell gives you better grip on the phone and the edges are a bit higher than in the glossy original one, thus protecting the screen from falling and pressure. It's a good device overall.

anyways its no biggie replacement screen only cost Rs 4000 around $80 . Sharing this cause I couldn't find the replacement price for a lumia 820 in india and was anxious when I broke my screen and about the casing , I don't like to use any of them personal opinion is that they spoil the nice design of 820.

When the 720 arrives probable they are at the same price level which you could consider also, then compare them side by side.

If you have all the patience wait for the 3rd gen WP8 but don't purchase just yet.. wait for the 4th gen..NO!:(

So I did go ahead and buy the 820. Got it for 24k indian rupees, bought a 32GB class 10 memory card with it. Initial impressions in one word, Luminated!

Hey man, here's how you decide ... Do you have 4g coverage in your area or does it matter to you , 820 has 4g , 720 doesn't,
Do you care about Games? games will work better on the 820 specially intensive ones, Do you care about weight, slimness or looks , the 720 wins here,
do you care about photography ? 720 has better photography all around... , do you care about removable batteries , the 820 batteries can be replaced the 720's can't .

Pick what you like the most and go with it (although the rule suggest new always means better.)
