Hi All,

Thanks,
I did that to a post portico Lumia 920 and no brick. But I heard there are people who didn't even brick theirs before portico. So, no idea if it is safe
Mine did but this was pre-portico, not sure if it still would.
I did that just last night post-Portico and it didn't brick.
Mine was on the spinning gear for hours and I pressed three buttons to hard reset couple times and brought it back. It was post-portico.
Thanks for the feedback,
seems like post-portico is safer.
You guys are so adventurous lol, for trying the Hard-reset.
Nevertheless, thanks for sharing :)
Have an issue with my 920 turning itself off every couple of days needing a soft reset to turn it back on.
I did a hard reset at 8am and it still showing "cogs" 4.5 hours later.............HELP !!!!!
If you have a SIM installed, have you tried removing it? Worked for mine. Within 10 minutes of removing it, the phone restarted and was fine. I had the spinning gears for quite awhile.
Perform soft reset. Should reboot. If not, thy the three button reset.
Have done the 3 button reset.
Its now flashing with a red battery warning even though its been plugged into the charger. Then after 20seconds it turns off again.
I did it pre-portico and no bricks.
I reset mine pre-portico and it bricked. It's fairly hit and miss whether the phone will brick from what I can gather.
I am now on my 3rd Lumia 920. Both of my previous phones were after the Portico update and bricked.
One of my 920's locked when doing a hard reset; the other did not. No real rhyme or reason that I could find.
I've had my phone since Halloween and did 3 hard resets. First one pre-portico bricked. Did one hard reset post-portico that did not brick and I did one last night that did brick. I had to flash it to bring it back both times it got stuck at the gears. Seems random.
The phone is displaying a low battery and charge symbol (and has done for 3hours now whilst plugged in). Phone stays in this state unless I soft/hard reset, which then causes cogs.
No phone since 8am.
I presume this is "bricked", if so, what are my options?
Did a soft reset and accidently held the volume up button..... I now have a lightening symbol and small cog on the screen???????
That's the firmware flashing mode. Just press and hold the volume down and power buttons together for about 12 seconds to reboot the phone
I did it post portico and it bricked. I got a replacement. Hoping I never have to hard reset, but I will do it at least once a couple months before warranty expires.
PHEWWWW.. its up and running, its now time to get the phone back to normal.
Just one issue.... it cant find my SIM even though its inserted.
Post-Portico = Bricked  Wheels kept rolling for over 4 hours. Had to drain my phone of battery. Button-trick didnt help!
I did a hard reset post portico and my 920 bricked :(. Be careful
I may be screwed. Just got the Lumia 920 on ebay. It's practically brand new. The seller forgot to reset the lumia. It had all his personal info on it.
So I went ahead and reset the phone. Settings, about etc. Usual windows phone reset method (I had owned a Lumia 900 so know how to use the phone).
Anyways got the dreaded spinning gears also. Let the battery drain. But now it won't charge. Like other posters, I get the red low battery. And that's it.
I left it on the charger over night, now the spinning gears is back on. But if I try the 2 or 3 button reset, the spinning wheels will not show anymore and it reverts to the low red battery icon.
I looked up the internet and found way to restore the firmware on the windows computer.
The only huge issue is when I plug Lumia 920 into USB for computer to recognize, even with spinning gears, it will reboot itself and than show the dreaded red battery icon and the computer can't recognize the phone.
So what are my options since I got it from ebay?
1. I have an official ATT store warranty exchange around the corner where I work. (there is usually only one store each metro area that handles repairs/warranty).
I may try to play dumb and maybe they will exchange it for me without a receipt. I have the original box/charger etc the seller on ebay gave me.
2. If the ATT device warranty center won't service it I may have to call Nokia USA to setup an exchange.
3. Worst case, send it back to seller on ebay. I know I am protected by 45 day ebay protection.
And I have been in contact with the seller immediately after I received the phone and reset the phone so it's not I purposely ruined the phone myself. I was merely resetting the phone since it had he personal information on it.
Follow my post here to fix it: http://forums.windowscentral.com/nok...ml#post1904633
I did follow you post. The problem is when I plug in USB cable to computer and try to do the Nokia Suite recovery. The phone shuts off with low battery level. And than the computer won't recognize the Lumia 920 to start the flashing of the firmware process.
Charge it enough to show the spinning wheels.
Start the NCS, follow the steps, but do not plug the phone in yet.
When the NCS throws an error and ask you to reset the phone with Volume Down and Power and connect. Do that and connect the phone immediately after the short vibration.
Make sure drivers are installed correctly. You might have to redo the process again if Windows takes its time to recognize the device and install the driver.
After that flashing took about 3~5 minutes.
Yup.
It shouldn't but it can, not always, but sometimes.
