I'm talking about the little one near the camera you only use when pressing the phone to your ear. Suddenly, all sounds coming out of it are distorted, like a blown speaker. Don't know what to make of this.

try making phone calls with headphones or the loud speaker, if the sound from those speakers are okay, then your earpiece speaker is blown. other wise it's a problem somewhere else.

I tried those things and they're fine, so I guess the speaker is blown. I called AT&T, and they suggested a hard reset, which appears to be a knee-jerk response. I asked how that would repair a blown speaker, and the person blew bubbles at me. I'm going to call back and see if I get a "live chamber" this time.

The same thing happened to me for a while. Try simply blowing into the earpiece with some force, that sometimes cleared it up for me. Eventually the problem has faded away though, so don't risk the hard-reset

I had this problem with one unit. Your speaker is definitely blown, have it replaced as soon as you can. A good way to know is if the voices in the earpiece sound muffled, and have a "crackling" effect, almost like something is loose in there. This sounds exactly like the problem I had.

I called AT&T back and they quickly agreed to send me a new phone. I've been with them for years, and have experienced all the frustration others have with spotty coverage, delays pushing out updates, etc. But I will say one thing for them - they honor their warranties.

I'm having the same exact issue. Blown speaker. Very tinny and raspy. Hard to understand the caller. Sounds fine on Bluetooth and wired headset. Calling in the morning to start the replacement process.
