Press and hold the Volume Down and Power On button at the same time. Hold for at least 10sec (until the phone vibrates)

Happened to mine. Nothing responds not even the charger. You got to send it in for warranty.

If your battery dis-charge fully, you will need to use Volume Down and Power On button to boot up again.

There is nothing to do with warranty :)

It just happened to me. I just the volume down and power bitten technique and it worked!

My question is why does this happen? Is it a bug in the OS?

Different opinions on that. Some say it's hardware related and that you should have your phone replaced if this happens.
Some say it is OS/firmware related.

Anyway, it has also happened to me (many times), and I contacted Nokia Care. They told me it was a know issue and that there would be a firmware update to take care of the problem. This was before Christmas and I thought the Portico update would fix it. But no ...
So now I am hoping for the upcoming 1308 firmware update. Actually,I just flashed my phone with that version ... now testing ...

There is another known flaw in the design, some of the unit somehow work the battery too hard and toast it, meet one of these rare one the other day.

Processor need some sort stable voltage to boot again, Hence when the battery fully dis-charge you can't boot it up.

After you connect charger, the battery may be charged but the power supply from batter may be not supply enough voltage to boot again, hence we need to Reset battery and boot up.

    This is IMO.

I'm not sure if this is related:

I've had my Lumia 920 for two days already; each night I put it on the charger and wake up in the middle of the night to it off and not wanting to turn back on. Only way to get it back on is through the volume down + power button combo. Anyone know what could cause that?

THANKS! My phone turned off randomly too and I was especially anxious that my phone would have been bricked only after 4 weeks of use!
