Hi, I am a new 8x user and so far have zero complaints. It is a beautifully designed phone.

right not I am getting up to 17 mb/s download at home and up to 15 on hspa+.

is there any word on what the merger with metropcs will do to those speeds?

I am currently on t-mobile's network.

More than likely it will further increase capacity in areas where metro PCS had coverage which will provide a slight speed bump but in areas where metroPCS doesn't exist (mine being one of them) then no difference will be observed.

Don't think it'll matter for existing phones. Metro runs LTE but the LTE bands on the T-Mobile 8X apparently can't be activated so it'll be HSPA+ for the life of the phone. I'm personally fine with that, I'm not a heavy data user and the speeds are just fine where I'm at. I spend about half my time on WiFi too which obviously helps.

Where are you located that you're getting these speeds on the 8X?

I am located in San Diego, CA USA. I am totally fin with H+ for the next couple years. The phone is fast and I don't see it slowing down anytime in the near future.
