HI all, I haven't been able to find any posts on this issue, there are similar ones but not exactly what I have going on with my phone. I am on Rogers and recently updated to the .1308 firmware. Everything seemed fine until this weekend. I will try to describe this the best I can. I was on the 24th floor of a highrise building trying to take pictures of the ground below. Everything was in auto mode and it was bright daylight. When I tried to focus onto the ground the camera would not focus, it would stay blurry. If I focused in on the skyline backdrop it would focus properly and make the achieved focus noise. I would then try to re focus the ground area as before and it would not focus. If I focused on the railing, same settings, it would focus. The only way I was able to focus on the ground was by focusing in on the distance and while holding the focus down bring the ground area into the viewfinder and taking the picture that way. I tried resetting the camera settings, I reset the phone, soft reset, I turned it to macro and back. I also use Proshot and tried to re enact the issues with the Nokia camera app and the same thing occurred. Weirdly if I set the phone to manual focus infinite in Proshot it would take the picture perfectly. I had not had this problem before updating to the new firmware not never noticed it before. Does anyone have any ideas. I will try to post some pictures later showing what I mean if this doesn't make proper sense. Thanks.

I have the very same problem since I updated to 1308 :( Only workarounds are as mentioned either set focus manually in ProShot or try to auto-focus to a different direction (but with about same distance), so that the phone tries to focus in different exposure and then move back to the original object you want to snap. The exposure compensation is not locked that way, only the focus gets locked.

Thats great, thx for the update. Its been a wierd bug it seems. It appears that when I take a photo downwards, say for example from a balcony looking down it becomes blurry as if the floating lens cannot capture the proper image. When in the same spot taking a picture directly ahead it is in focus. Possibly the lens cannot stabilize when faced downwards at for example 45 degrees?

@Cobthaich; I think your right, I just tested here also. if phone camera is horizontal it works, as soon as you drop the camera to take photo downwards if fails.

I've added your findings to the Nokia board also, hope Nokia investigate that also.
well done. but using "Camera360" and manual focus fixes this and gives us a manual override for now.

    well done and good find.

    Hi there,

I am facing the same problem with my 5 days old Lumia 920. The pictures are perfect when shot horizontally. But when I try to shoot a picture of something on the ground from my balcony, the autofocus can't stay on a sharp level. It finds the right af point but goes blurry again. Any news regarding your problem? Did you find something new?

    Best regards
