Data Speed Question About Lumia 620

I'm considering getting my mother a factory unlocked Lumia 620 for Mother's Day. This would be her first cell phone ever (yes, she's been living in the dark ages, lol). I'm not sure she cares too much about data, but I was wondering what kind of speeds she would get on T-Mobile? Note: I have seen 3G appear on my factory unlocked iPhone 4 since November. Would a 620 get 3G speeds? Also, if I got her a Lumia 900 instead (also factory unlocked, of course), would that get 3G on T-Mobile? We're in Queens, NY, though she works in the NYC area.

You will get Edge speeds with a 620 on T-Mobile, unless you live in a refarmed area. Then you will get HSPA/HSAP+. Same thing with the 900

Thanks. I know she will get an H+ at home, just not sure about when she's at work. I think she'll be okay with EDGE, though.
