I'm currently using an HTC Titan and love the camera - however the phone is getting a bit battered and I want to replace it.

The Nokia WP8 apps appeal and although I would love a 720 (or 820 or 920) I intend to buy a phone SIM Free and the best option in my price range appears to be the 620.

I just wondered what people's thoughts were about the camera in real world circumstances - is the camera reasonably quick to focus and what's the quality like outdoors and indoors in decent light.

I have looked at some of the samples on here which are very encouraging, but am interested in people's thoughts.

Please be gentle with me - I don't post often!

    Thanks.

Coming from a Nokia N8 which has a very good camera, I've been very impressed from the 620s images. It is especially good in outdoor light, quick to focus and take pictures.

This is taken from the camera, untouched.

Thanks Mike - that's very promising! I heard a lot of good things about the N8.

I did not expect a lot from the phone's camera. However, I was really surprised with it! You get what you pay for but i think that the camera on 620 is pretty good for the phone's price. Whenever I do not have my personal camera with me, the phone handles the situation pretty good. Here is a nightshot.

That's really good constantinosmi thank you - my Titan takes great pictures in decent light, but they're lousy at night.

You are welcome! This is the best you can get for that price. If you find a lumia 720 at that price, then get it!

A 720 would be ideal for me, but unfortunately it's too expensive SIM free here in the UK.

I came from a 920 to a 620, (I know.....sounds weird, but true nonetheless), and i couldn't be happier. No..it is not as good as the 920....no 8.7mp pureview ois camera or pureview high res display, but it is much better than its price would seem to convey. Much better for me though, with the smaller form factor and all, and i am very satisfied with the overall performance, including the camera. I say, go for it. You will not regret your purchase. ☺

Not really a demanding camera user. But must say that the performance of the 620 camera is below average, images taken in good light are passable but images in dimmer conditions are terrible. Much worse compared to the shooter on my mil's Sony xperia J, also a low end budget phone..

Try changing you camera settings before taking pictures. People in here cannot be wrong with the pictures they take.

Previously, I used the Lumia 620 and here's my experience. (Hint : It's good.)

5MP camera may not be too detailed and in my opinion, the 620 captures noisy images, which the noise reduction seems to be too aggressive. Colors and contrast are good and accurate with macro photos came out extremely close (Even closer than what my recently 820 can do)

Low-light shoot are not as good as the 920 or even the 820. But it is decent with right settings (Set Night on Scenes) and while not detailed, it's not as noisy as any other phone on same price.
