Moving Carriers

Does anyone (preferably from Aussie) know if I change carriers with an unlocked Lumia 820 would I get the 1308 update straight away?? I'm sooo over Vodafone and wanna move to Optus, who already have 4G/LTE while Vodafone play catch up n forget they even have a 3G/3.5G!!

Changing carriers won't affect when you get an update. The update is linked to the product code of the phone which in turn identifies what country and or network the phone belongs to. Also, unlocking the phone just removed the SIM lock so you can put any SIM in from any other network. So, if your phone was originally locked to Vodafone you will still have to wait for Vodafone to give you the update.

Yeah I know what your saying but I bought tha phone totally unlocked from a retailer, not a carrier!

That means you don't have to wait for carrier approval then which should be a benefit but may not be so. For instance, AT&T customers in the good ol' US of A are getting updates long before anyone else, including unbranded handsets like my 920. It's all down to MSFT and Nokia when they decide to release the updates for us.
