Hi,

Anyone else know if this is a common problem?
I connected my Lumia 920 to my PC - only for a strong burning smell to come out of the phone.
The USB port is a bit burnt and now connecting via USB does not register with the Lumia - so no charging or managing of the phone is possible.

Just an update: I went to my provider Vodafone (UK) who referred me to Nokia directly. Nokia have the handset and I am waiting to hear back....

the same thing happened to me, except i was plugged into the wall socket. the USB port on the phone is blackened. i think you'll find it is just the cable at fault. i took it to a Nokia care centre too and they didn't offer to do anything, i got a new cable though and it works fine

Update: Nokia came back after testing my device - they said there was a fault (some 'connection' was loose and explained the overheating) - they replaced the handset, given that the USB port was dead (not possible to charge or connect the phone via the port).
