Lumia 925 for T-Mobile, missing frequencies for 4G?

Based on the released specs, the Lumia 925 for T-Mobile has missing frequencies like 1700 to operate at 4G speed on the T-Mobile network.

I currently have unlocked Lumia 920 on the T-Mobile network, the same story.
It is on EDGE data speeds almost all the time in South Florida.

The 925 for Tmo US will have the necessary frequencies when its released, the specs on Nokia's site are for the global version.

Why do you need a source? Have any of the Nokia devices released to date not had the required frequencies for the US carrier it is released on? The Lumia 900, 710, 920, 820, 810, 521, 928 are all tuned to each individual carrier, why would it be different for the T-Mobile version of the 925?

The T-Mobile story is not so simple.
They are in the process of refarming now.

It was planned to introduce 1900 frequency for 4G speed.
Also, LTE is coming to particular markets like South Florida in June.

That's why maybe 1700 band won't be needed at all for the Lumia 925 !?.

I would think the 925 would be getting the AWS 1700 band once they make the version for T-Mobile USA. It's probably not being announced officially just yet from Nokia.com simply because it's not supposed to be available until the end of June.

I'd hope they get 1700. Re-farming takes time and if I got a new "Smartphone" on a carrier that advertises 4G LTE speeds on TV I'd wonder WTF is going on.

Speaking of which, will the 925 also have wi-fi calling? It might be worth me upgrading my backup L800 to a 925 if it does.

Of course the T-Mo version will have the AWS frequencies built in. I'm guessing the US version of the 925 will be a slightly different flavour like how the 521 was to the 520.

no, they need 1700 support. The 1900 refarm is far from complete. I was in a highly populated area of Long Beach and my 720 wasn't getting 3.5G. I called T-Mobile and they told me they had only refarmed one tower up by the interstate. Lots of work still needs to be done.

No, the 925 (T-Mo version) will have all the necessary bands for every speed your network (area) provides.

The only phone that T-Mo officially offers that does not have AWS HSPA+ is the iPhone 4/4S. These models are only offered in areas with refarmed HSPA+ on the 1900MHz spectrum. No new device that comes to T-Mo will lack AWS HSPA+ until 1900MHz HSPA+ sufficiently covers most (probably more like all) of T-Mo's current AWS footprint.

Second, you really should have purchased the unlocked Rogers 920 if you planned to use it on T-Mo in an area without refarmed HSPA+. That model supports AWS HSPA+...
