Cracked Lumia 820 screen, how to differentiate?

I have managed to crack my Lumia 820 screen today. There is distinct crack on the glass but I cannot make out weather its digitizer or the LCD itself.
One thing is LCD is blacked out but touch features are working. I mean I cannot see who is calling (black screen) but if i touch at the place where we receive calls it will get connected.

Can some one help me by telling weather its the digitizer or the LCD that is broken. I reported this to Nokia and they asked me to change the entire unit. But I dont have to change the unit unless both digitizer and LCD is broken.

It is probably the LCD, because the digitizer is the one that reads your touch input :smile:

Will digitizer work even if its broken at one corner or is it same as LCD (completely dead) ? There is a visible crack to top right corner but I can still touch at appropriate place to receive calls
