Hey, I am going to clear something up here.
Francisco was totally misquoted. The contradiction was too weird so I thought I'd check with him directly in care there was an issue outside of the bands. Turns out Francisco CONFIRMS that the unlocked version WILL work as long as the phone's in an LTE area. With his permission I am pasting the conversation I had with him here. If any are in doubt - please contact Francisco or Negri DIRECTLY and don't pay heed to these rumors.. Cheers,

Francisco:
Hello, my name is Francisco.
How may I help you?
me: Hi Francisco,
There has been some arguing on various boards about the unlocked Lumia 1020 (any color)
Some are quoting you as saying that it absolutely will not work on T-Mobile's network even though it is unlocked.
However, TMbile boards are confirming that the ATT version bands are completely compatible with T-Mobile as long as unit is indeed unlocked and the user is in a refarmed area that has LTE
If the phone won't work with T-Mobile, is there any specific reason, and if that's the case, where would buyers use an unlocked ATT version?
Francisco: Yes that is correct as long as you are in the new coverage area this will support LTE
Can you please provide me with the link of the blog?
me: I THOUGHT so!! This sounded too weird. SUre.. stand by..

Francisco: Thank you
me: I am registered so can make a response on the board quoting you here - that is if it's ok with you.
Francisco: Yes this is fine.

I didn't miss quote him. And I wasn't trying to start rumors. I copied it directly from the email he sent me. I sent him screen shots of some pages and I guess he misunderstood what I was asking. I'm glad you got that info from him because I already got shafted on $35 on the restocking fee from att I just want to make sure I get a phone that works.

GBach, I wasn't directing at you personally. This conversation was occurring before your post. I wasn't trying to point fingers, just trying to clear the air and get rid of the confusion re TMobile. Peace.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I see more shipping delays in the future. It doesn't look like AT&T is releasing unlock codes claiming the device is exclusive on their network like they did with the 920. If this is the case I don't see how Negri is going to be able to unlock them until that period is up which is normally 6 months.

If you're right, I'll move to the 925 and pick up whatever 41MP thing comes out next year..

sorry antiochian, i took your post the wrong way. i just wanted you guys to know what i was hearing even if though it was incorrect but im glad you talked to him and corrected my misunderstanding with him. hopefully everything works out with your order let us know because like i said, i got the galaxy 4 right now, and i was messing around taking pictures with the 1020 on saturday before i had to return it because it was unable to be unlocked, and the difference in photo quality is not even close.

oh ya and to respond to your above post, when i went ot ATT on saturday they had plenty in stock, but when i called their customer care and talked to them the guy was super cool but he pretty much told me i was **** out of luck and there was no way he could unlock it :/

No problem GBach. There is so much out there that has been confusing. I did see your post but figured you were just another one of the confused. I'm sorry if I implied that there were actual rumor mongers out there. I figured that with this being so new and with the AT&T situation, that what little information existing was being distorted. But I don't think there was much if any actual trolling - I think all the misunderstandings out there have been in good faith.

So thank you, Francisco from NegriCare, for setting everything straight finally.

In short, for T-Mobilers:

LTE/Refarmed: GOOD
Non-LTE, No refarm: Hope you like Edge 2G!

GBach - As far as the Galaxy 4, I had actually heard very good things about the camera - but those comments were specific to the S4 Zoom - is that what you have, or another S4?

im using the regular S4 that came out a few months ago. i seriously cant put into words how different the definition between the S4 and lumia cameras are. there was this little kind of globe sphere almost like a lego land kind of diorama with these little dolls fishing. next to it there was a small sign the size if your finger nail (to give you an idea), the sign said "no fishing", i was taking pictures with my S4 and comparing it to the 1020. you could zoom in and read the no fishing as clearly as you are reading this post now on the 1020, and on my S4 you could see it said something but not really make out what it said. my S4 crushes the lumia on screen and speed, but i wasnt upset with the lumia screen when i had it and it seemed to run smooth, other than the fact that it keep on saying "sim error" because i had my tmobile chip on there. the camera being so much better on the lumia is a sacrifice i can deal with. :)

im going to check out the zoom right now, have not seen much on it except on gsmarena

Hi WebDave,

I think I have good evidence that things are (eventually) going to go well here with Negri. I found out that unlocked versions are already on eBay, and if you want to shell out $900, you can get one to ship today. Apparently some have already shipped from this seller in Union City, NJ. Since they have inventory, to me that indicates that there is an unlock method in place.

(edit) Disregard - feedback on the guy claiming to have these is horrible. Wish I had read further before posting!

Here's the link to the Yellow Unlocked..

Thanks for the link. Not that I'm doubting you but I'd be interested to see if that seller actually has stock. If you view his feedback there are a number of comments saying he sold phones without actually having them.

When AT&T released the Lumia 920 you couldn't but an unlocked AT&T model because the codes didn't exist. No one on Ebay or anywhere else was able to get access to them. I had to wait for at least 6 months before the flood gates opened. Hopefully this isn't the case for the 1020.

Good point, webdave! I admit I didn't read any of the feedback.. Fingers crossed..

(edit) Oh man, you are right; this guy's feedback is crap. 84% for a relatively new user. Boy did I pick a great example.. :/

So at least they didn't say this was not possible due to any issues outside locking or frequencies :)

GBach, I'm not counting on anything.. .I HOPE it ships Friday; I am looking at their site several x per day just to see if the Delivery date gets blown out again. With the popularity of it, I just don't have any feel for how this week's going to go.
