Sunlight readability, can't notice any difference!

Hi,
I have sunlight readability turned on on my 920 but I dont see any difference to the screen when I'm in bright sunlight, I have brightness set to high rather than the auto setting (auto setting is too dim when indoors or viewing photos) Does it need to be in auto for this feature to work?
