Owned an n8 since 2010 and loved the camera but as the times have changed I moved on to a Lumia 810. Plunging for the 925 for sure but curious to know how does photo quality fair between an n8 and the 925

I had an N8, but I dont have a 925, but a 920 instead. I'm not sure how 925s camera is compared to the 920, but my opinion on N8 vs. L920 camera is that N8 took better images in good daylight and if your hand didnt shake etc. 920 also takes good daylight pics, but N8 was somehow a tad better. However, overall I find the 920s camera better cos of the OIS and low light capabilities, something that N8 lacked. N8 had a Xenon though, which is a lot better IMO as a still image flash, but it could not be used as a video light or a flashlight as opposed to the dual leds on the 920.

Yeah totally agree;) i had a N8 but since have had n 820 n now a 925 n its actually very close between the N8 and 925 but having said that OIS is a massive edge to have n im really happy with the 925 in both daylight and low light altho now Nokia have gone n made them all obsolete with the 1020 :(

Thanks. Notice any real difference between an xenon flash or dual led with the 925? When I ask "real" difference of course I mean a big noticeable change or is it just a slight change?

Nokia Lumia 928 vs Nokia Lumia 920 Flash (LED vs Xenon)

In certain conditions the difference is pretty big as you can see there, but as said the dual LED is much more diverse as it can be used for video light as well as as a flashlight. I dont know if its outright impossible to use a Xenon flash as a flashlight but at least with N8 it was said that the Xenon isnt designed to be on for long periods cos it has so much more power than the dual led (as seen in the link). Personally I would probably opt for a dual LED nowadays rather than a kickass flash for night shots (especially when the L920 and variants have kickass low light capabilities anyways)

I've just 'upgraded' to the 925 from the N8.

There's no comparison between the two phones. The N8 is better in every way. The twin LED flash is laughable compared to Xenon. Sure, as someone said, you get a video light with the LEds but the number of times I've wanted to shoot video an low light is so small as to be ignored. I'll be sending the 925 back to Orange.

upgraded a month ago from the n8 . I liked my n8 , had it for three years but decided it was time to upgrade . I'm glad I did , I really like my 925 the only downside is the lack of memory card expansion

Can anybody update the information given here after Amber update? I read everywhere about camera improvements for Lumia 925/920 with the Amber update.
I'm coming from a N8 and wondering if a 920 with Amber could replace it properly or if I should painfully invest in a 1020.

Thx
