I thought some of you might find this interesting. The hard reset on the Nokia Lumia 920 (and probably other phones too) does not erase all the system data. After preforming a recent hard reset, all my apps, contacts and pictures were gone so I thought it really wiped the device clean. Then when I tried to connect to my work's wifi which requries a browser login, I noticed that the saved username from before the reset showed up in Internet Explorer. So I guess the hard reset only clears certain parts of the phone's memory. It makes me wonder what other data is left hanging around.

I'm not sure, but I might have have signed in to my MS account. That's pretty creapy if Microsoft is collecting things like saved form data and saving that to my account.

You must have signed back in, because you can't use the phone without a Microsoft account. Doing so, you also probably restored your backed up settings. This isn't Microsoft "collecting" info, its just a basic restore. No different really than hard resetting an iPhone then restoring it

Edit: if you don't like it, shut it off in settings "backup" and delete your old backups under settings ->advanced

Most of the stored passwords etc are backed up. This is the same as it was on my Apple devices. I love the feature.
