Hey everybody,

I got my first Lumia 920 that replaced my Samsung Focus about 3 months ago. Absolutely love it, but about a month ago I all of a sudden started having issues charging. It wouldnt at all through USB. Luckily I have a wireless charger that I used instead, but I can't connect my phone to my computer either, it acted like it was not plugged in at all. I eventually got a replacement thanks to the warranty, and everything was great again. Until about a week ago, it happened again. But this time I know what caused it. I think I have a malfunctioning port on my computer, because I plugged it in one night to transfer my photos and a notification popped up on my pc that said USB device not recognized. Under device manager it is under unknown device. The weird part is, any usb port on any computer won't even notice that I plug it in. Or a wall charger. But the port that caused it on my computer always says that when I plug it into that specific port. Any ideas? I really don't want to have to get another replacement phone. Thanks for your feedback!

Its very likely the faulty USB port on your computer damaged the USB on your phone. Try plugging your phone into another PC and see if the problem persists.

Probably the USB port on your phone got fried by your PC USB port. If I were you, I'd tape that USB port off permanently. And then, get another warranty replacement of the phone. Next time, try use SkyDrive to upload photos. I have not connected my Lumia to PC for ages.

I had a similar problem and found that the USB port on my phone was dirty. Try blowing it out with some compressed air. YMMV.

What I thought was it is possibly not a hardware issue, more a software issue since that one port that did it still recognizes that its plugged in when nothing else does, it just says its unknown. And I already tried both soft and hard reset. I know it is a long-shot, but if GDR2 doesn't fix it, I will take it to a nearby AT&T warranty fulfillment store. Thanks for your input guys!

Use the hose attachment on a vacuum cleaner. Compressed air just pushes any dirt in the port, further into the phone
