Got mine yesterday, shot a bunch today in the garden. I'd have to say, it's above expectations so far.

I noticed two things:

Picture looks the best when it's oversampled (i.e., not zoomed in), it's AMAZINGLY SHARP. So the "shoot first frame later" still doesn't really apply. If you want to take advantage of the 41MP camera, you should carefully frame the shot, make sure the focus is right, and the lighting is correct.

At maximum loss-less zoom, the shots are typical smart phone like.

I didn't use a camera grip. The battery lasted all day with me taking ~100 shots, and I still have 50% left, pretty good. I did some light web browsing and uploading the pictures with WIFI.

To me this phone is totally worth the $700 price tag, because with it I'll document every moments of my life with real printable pictures, and that is priceless.

These look great. I do not think I have seen one bad photo taken with the 1020

Thanks, they do look great. My point was stronger however - they look AWESOME, above my expectations. Especially the second shot, I could not believe my eyes when I loaded that picture up on my computer screen, it's almost as good as my 7D.

Obviously the zoomed in ones do look a bit noisy, but at least I now have a way to take quality pictures everywhere I go.

The low light performance on the 920 was already excellent. L1020 is a little better, but not by much - on this picture, note the star pixel on the top right, you won't see this detail on a 920 shot. I think the noise is a bit high on the blacks, but it's truly dark out, and I didn't use the flash.

Have you tried cropping / zooming into the bees using the full res shot of the yellow flowers? I think they would still come out quite nicely.

I have looked at the full res picture on my computer. To be honest, they aren't as sharp. You can clearly tell the difference. Another problem was the focus was on the flower. It was hard to kept a focus on the bee because 1, it's too small to accurately tap on; 2, the focus process takes time (vs a phase detection focus on SLR), and the bees weren't that cooperative :)
