I bought the 920 at launch in since the have taken a ton of pictures and never have really noticed any benefit. From the ois. During video its wonderful but does it even work for photos? My wives iphone4s takes amazing shots as a point and shoot camera with out ois. I've noticed myself taking multiple shots because of camera shake and blurring. Its not this phone itself, im currently on my 5th 920 due to a range of issues. It was the same on all of my 920's

It depends on the shutter speed you're using, the phone may prioritize to keep ISO low but increase shutter speed and hope for the OIS to help. Also, for moving subjects OIS won't help, it's only the shutter speed then.

When your phone is on GDR2+Amber, and will get Nokia's camera app (Nokia Pro Cam, I'm using it as we speak), you'll be able to edit everything manually if you'd like.. And perhaps get better photos that you want!

You need to post some of these pictures so we can better assist. Also, if you're using the hardware button it can cause the phone to shake. Focusing by touching the screen should give you steadier shots.

If it works while taking videos, it's not broken. It sounds more like a user error.

I don't think Pro cam is coming with Amber update .. The Nokia PR2.0 Amber update full changelog appears - GSMArena.com news Correct me if I am wrong

Smart Cam will be available. Use ProShot to get the best out of your phone. Please visit this awesome thread http://forums.windowscentral.com/gui...Bguide%5D.html

It doesn't come with the update, but you will be able to install it on your 920 once you have GDR2

shake the phone like you have epilepsy or Parkinson's. While you are doing that, half press the camera button and watch the magic of the OIS. The shakes are all but gone. Its beautiful!

    I have epilepsy.

I would be offended, but then I thought of me having a fit whilst taking a picture.

At least it wouldn't be blurry.

    I agree with the OP.
Every picture I take has a sort of blur to them as in the pic below.
Doesn't matter strong light or low light.
Only time I seem to get good clear shots are with close ups.

Are you focusing with the hardware button or by touching the screen to focus?

That was a 'Touch - The - Screen' shot.
All shots turn out the same.
The blur on my cats head is typical in all my shots.

Even when you hold the hardware button half way down to focus?

Have you tried to clean your lens?
Is the plastic still on your lens?
    Have you tried factory resetting?

Youe device is clearly defective. Have you tried getting it returned?

Maybe GDR2 will fix it :)

I got friendly with a guy at a care centre. He said he'd swap out the camera unit for me and see if it improves. I said I'd wait for the update first. We'll see.

I had to get my perfectly working L920 replaced due to a shattered screen (three foot drop from shirt pocket, first phone shattered ever in 20 years of phones, Gorilla Glass??) I had no less than five refurb replacements before I got one that was good. The different problems were: bad touch screen, light leak on the screen, spontaneous rebooting, wireless charging stopped working, and last but not least, blurry camera pictures! You should be getting clear, amazing pictures.

The cat head is more blurry than the floor suggests a very long shutter speed as the extra blur of the head is the cat moving, not the camera. Though, without EXIF data (shutter speed, aperture etc) it's impossible to say for sure what happened.

Can you upload the image file somewhere so that the EXIF ddata is kept?

Make sure you reset your camera options to default. Proshot is better than default camera app because at least you can see when things are on older settings.

I do find the button messes up shots for me, so I always use the screen - the button requires too much effort to press and causes the camera to move or something.

Focus on that sample does look to be more on the chair than the cat though. You sure it's not in macro mode? As I said, reset the camera app menu options.

You and/or your subject are moving too much. I will admit the iphone to me is the easiest phone to take good pictures with. However after a couple of tries I can get a better picture than my brother' iphone. if my subject is stationary I rarely need more than one shot though. I use the stock app and all default settings.
On your 5th 920?! I had my original iphone replaced 3 times and thought that was nuts.
