These were taken in different time of day. Not great for comparison.
okay thats your opinion. l had both phones in my hands. l know you would say that because of the car behind the toyota is different. these were taken at a car dealership and those cars were customer cars. had to wait for a few minutes to avoid getting people in the picture. look at the white van at the stop light at the light, both pictures had vans. that should tell you both phones were used at the same time of the day.

Yes, the 928 pics are richer. No, I don't believe the pics were taken at different times of day, and in fact, if you look closely, it appears that the OP was standing in the same place to take both pictures. The one with the car for sale, you can tell that time has passed, though, as the shadows have changed angle, so the earth has rotated a bit. I'm not one to be able to judge by that how much time has passed, though. It looks to me like more than just a few minutes, but I could be wrong. I think certainly less than an hour, though. Definitely not worth arguing about with these two pics - the time of day is close enough to call it a good comparison IMO.

Something I notice is that the 928 has a bit wider angle - in each picture you can see more of both sides with the 928 shots than the S4 shots.

Yes l have noticed that too. the one with two different cars behind, l was waiting on these customers to move out of the way because they were talking to the car sales man. l might have waited a little too long but l had both phones in my hands. the rest of the pics has seconds of difference between them. mostly l used the samsung first.

Definitely think the 928 pictures are richer and just look nicer. Also, I don't know how to explain it but the S4 pictures look fake to me, like over processed or something

I did this same comparison when I exchanged and S4 for my 928. In every case the 928 pics came out with a wider angle, richer colors and didn't look over processed. To me the S4 pics look too bright. This is especially noticeable when shooting pics of the sky or a beach.

I wish I wasn't so lazy or I'd do a 928 vs Z10 thread, and maybe throw in a GS3 and iPhone 4S one as well. Alas I'm super lazy.

Personally I like the 928's pictures more, but that's by a hair. I think the S4 is one of the best camera phones out there so to even say that the 928 is comparable let alone slightly better at a glance I think Nokia are doing something right.

But more to the point, as the owner of both phones and the person that took the pictures... what do YOU think?

the s4, no doubts takes great pictures. l showed these pictures to a good friend of mine who owns an old HTC. he is just an average guy who doesnt care about how good a picture looks. l showed him these pictures for him to choose which he thinks looks better without telling him which one was an S4 or a lumia 928 because l wanted his honest opinion. honestly speaking he thought the 928 pictures looked better. l was surprised, a guy who isnt into how good pictures looked on phones literally thought the 928 pictures looked better. later l told him which phones l used.

the S4 belongs to my friend whom l went over with to look at cars at the dealership.

thank you for justifying this, l am not alone.lol. l had the same experience, when l took the pictures with the s4 the pictures looked washed out and too plain. l think its got to do with the screen. when l transferred the pictures to my phone for comparison, the s4 pictures looked bright and good on my 928. the 928 screen is really great.

You need to make them full size to really see them, but to me you can really tell the difference in the leaves on the tree on the left. Like a tool I left my Z10 on my desk to compare. I'll have to do it all over again tomorrow. :) I did take all three within probably 20 seconds of each other.

dont get me wrong, l love iphones, but their pictures are very boring to look at. iphone literally takes natural pictures. it takes pictures exactly the way what you see with your eyes making it personally boring for me.

I think a better test would be doing some low light shots inside -- granted can be harder to borrow additional phones for that. I have been thrilled with my 928 and it's capability inside. It's actually amazing sometimes because the display will show the dark scene and when you actually take the picture (not even using the verrrry nice xenon flash) it gets remarkably bright and clear.

And in all honesty, "low light" really means "standard indoor nighttime illumination".

Nice being able to get worthwhile pics from my cellphone finally. I really should do a comparison with our couple year old Canon P&S.
