Why is camera in middle instead of at the top?

Why is the camera on the Lumia 920 in the middle of the phone instead of at the top? I keep getting my finger in my pictures and it's driving me crazy.

It's done simply because of the fact that if you place something at the center, it moves less violently from rotational motion.

It may be because s/he has big hands, or it's simply more comfortable to hold it that way.

The only way I could imagine fingers are getting in the way is when the phone is held upright.

Lumia phones are meant to take videos and pictures in landscape mode I suppose, hence the position of the camera button.

Nothing should ever be designed to take videos in portrait orientation. It's just wrong!

I have taken over thousand pictures with my 920, not a single one with my finger in it. Treat and hold the phone as a real camera, use the shutter button, even in portrait position, good picture every time. Quite simple.

They do have a portrait mode when you feel like doing stuff with it.

The video camera showing the time horizontally is enough of a hint to me that I should record in landscape mode.
