The camera has 3x lossless zoom, meaning you can zoom up to 3x without losing any picture quality (in the 5MP oversampled photos designed for sharing). While taking a photo, the app only lets you zoom in at a max of 3x, however, after you've already taken the shot, Nokia Pro Cam will let you zoom in much more (10x, time I believe?). The problem with that is, after 3x, it's no longer "lossless" zoom, and it's purely digital (exactly like zooming in on any other phone). However, even though it's like zooming in on any other smartphone, the photos are typically high quality enough that they still look good even when zooming in at such great lengths.
