And you lose your warranty. Not a big deal.

I bought my phone in Switzerland (unlocked/unbranded) and use it on a French network, still no GDR2. Interesting thing is, the phone came with nordic language papers, Danish, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian. Not really the official Swiss languages. :p

In Australia, unlocked Ativ S, still no GRD2.

I'm considering flashing it, however I don't have access to a PC, only a Mac.

Is there any way to update the software without a PC?

You may want to consider CSC method. Follow the thread before making a decision.

No. That is defined by the OS version.

for example I know that I am running GDR3 as I installed it using preview for developers and my OS version is 8.0.10521.155

If you check your OS version as I suggested before and post the version we will be able to advise what GDR release you are running

Settings -> About -> more information
