Microsoft warranty is $99 at time of purchase and covers you for 24 months. Look at what you spend monthly on Verizon for 24 months, and this is a bargain, if you have the cash to lay out up front. $99 vs $192.
Let me add that I am a staunch opponent of extended warranties, as I used to work for one of the largest insurance companies in the world, administering extended warranties on computers and peripherals. I've seen first hand what a rip-off it is, when you look at the numbers (odds of you using the insurance vs. what it covers/costs). But given the price tags on today's phones, I find it hard to pass up, as long as it is a policy that covers damage. MS's plan covers accidental damage, but not loss, IIRC, and has already paid off for me, since I dropped my phone on the edge of a concrete step, while fending off a 50' long anaconda that was trying to eat me (the phone saved my life).
