I was having some signal issues, and called verizon. They told me to turn off global, because that was just searching for a signal that wasn't there, unless of course your traveling abroad.

Just learned something today, as I called Verizon to get to know a possibility of taking my Lumia 928 out of US. Basically the LTE, GSM or UMTS mode is the one which pretty much opens up the phone to any carrier. Just to try it out, I changed from Global to the LTE, GSM or UMTS, changed Verizon SIM to an AT&T one and to my big surprise, my Lumia 928 was placing and receiving calls on 3G from AT&T, so I guess if you don't mind on not being connected to either LTE or HSPA, you can use your phone with any carrier, in virtually any country that has at least 3G on GSM.
