I may be missing something or just haven't found the app to do it, but I am quite sure that the imaging capabilities and horsepower in a Lumia 1020 are quite capable of capturing high frame rates. I'd even be happy with a 640x480 image at 120 fps slowed down to play back at 30.

Is there something preventing this in hardware or is it just something we have to beg for until a Pro Camera feature camera upgrade is released?

We dont even have 720p at 60fps so I do not see that coming at all. I wish we could though, it would obviously help for editing and slow mo.

Right - but is it a hardware issue or a software issue?

Other phones with the same chipset do it. So the hardware supports it so I think its a software thing.

I asked @windowsphone on twitter to one-up Apple. I hope they do.
