Hi all.

Dear friends, recently I bought lumia 720 (Black Color) and very next day itself I accidentally dropped the phone and one of the corners of back panel got bulged. The damage is clearly noticeable which annoys me and I curse myself for that. Other than the case corner damage, there is no issue with the functionality of the phone, everything seems to be working fine. Now I would like to replace the back panel. I inquired all Nokia cares and other phone stores in my location and none of them have the back panel. I browsed over internet and found some Chinese websites selling the back panel. I also found the same in ebay.in and have decided to purchase one. I hope there will not be issue with the fitment of the panel, but I am only concerned about 2 things. One is the camera quality and other one is sound quality. Because the lens and audio port is present in the back panel which do get changed when the back panel is replaced. Some videos (youtube) shows that these things can be removed too, which I do not want to do at this particular time which voids the warranty. So friends please check up the back panel (original or not) that I found from the following link and suggest me what to do.

100% Genuine Housing Back Cover FASCIA For Nokia Lumia 720 ~ Black Color | eBay

Thanks in advance. Waiting for your suggestions..........

I have already gone through the video and some other videos also. I am not doing it on my own. It may void the warranty. Moreover I do not have Torx (T2) screwdriver to remove the screw. I would take the back panel to any Nokia Care and get it done. I just want to make sure about couple of concerns that I have mentioned in my post. Please advise me regarding the concerns I have.
Take a look at the video here and then decide whether you feel comfortable in replacing your back cover or not because its not good idea if you're planning to do it on your own.

I am not sure. It is difficult to just go by photo. I am from India and purchasing from ebay.com will cost more than ebay.in. I am only concerned about the functionality of camera and audio port after replacing back panel. And I don't have idea regarding the words like "FASCIA", "Negra" so and so. Please provide technical advise regarding my concerns.

Since you're going to get it replaced by Nokia Care, why not ask them to replace the audio jack and camera lens from the original phone housing.

PS: The housing you've chosen feels really cheap to me.

Yes, already thought of it. And it will be my last option. But I have to contact Nokia Care and explain them that I will be buying the panel from other source and they just have to replace the panel and other components. I hope they agree for this. And thanks for the replies.

Since the price is also "cheap" I may give a try. But, first I have to explain Nokia Care everything (quality of the panel as well) and definitely talk regarding warranty also. Any other suggestion from your side?
Your warranty will be voided anyway. You're asking them to replace the original housing with a cheap one.

My advice would be buy a good quality case (not housing) and live with it. Don't mess your phone up. Also you can try contacting Nokia via email and ask them to arrange the housing for your phone.

Due to the impact (when the phone got dropped) a paper gap has got created adjacent to the corner which got damaged. And one can expect dust or any other foreign particles entering and case cover may not give enough protection from such thing. I have already spoken over phone to Nokia and they just ask my location and provides some contacts of Nokia priority dealers and Nokia Cares for inquiry. I am sure I have tried most of the thing. Hence I am looking for some actual user experience with the panel replacement.

Drop Nokia a mail here: Email us - Nokia - India and they'll respond back to your mail and will give you a call.

It is the best way to contact them. I'm from India too. So I'm telling from my experience.

User experience in the sense, people who have bought panel from source other than Nokia and have done the replacement. Anyway I have sent a mail from the given link. I will wait for their reply and then take a decision. And thanks for your efforts.

I was talking about my experience in contacting Nokia. I don't think there's anyone here who has replaced his/her 720 housing yet.

I got it (user experience) what you are trying to say, in your previous reply itself. There may not be a person who has gone for panel replacement in this forum, but when I googled, there are people who are trying to make an attempt. Anyway I will wait for Nokia's reply.

[WARN][/WARN]

Dear Sumit,

I'm having the same problem over here, cracked rear housing, but there isn't Nokia Care Center in my town.

So I'm just wondering to buy the replacement part on ebay e replace it myself.

But which tools I need to have in order to do that without lefting any "scars" on my beloved phone?

Mine a three month old lumia 720 is also broken alongwith the entire display being cracked, further the board near the sensor is bent. One service centre refused while the other is prepared to repair at a cost of 9200/- with one month warranty only, as it is an accidental damage the normal warranty would become void.
The question, is it advisable to have it repaired as per the above assurances and would work fine later.
