I went to Digiexpo in Helsinki.
I got hooked up with the Lumia 1520. It’s big (i mean, BIG), but thin and nice to hold. Amazing screen and performance. Yellow mate looks premium!
You need to hands to operate comfortably. It's a real Phablet.
I did a size comparison with the Samsung Ativ S.
Take a look:

Yup, looks too big for comfort. Specially because its just a big phone, missing cool functions from the Note (split screen etc). However its only smart from Nokia to release it before the 5" similar spec device. Many will buy both, first this to get the latest and greatest (more tiles) and then the smaller when available.

Because of the unlock we got now for the Ativ, I think I will stick with it until the 5" flagship Nokia comes. I just posted about this few days ago. Well see when I get to hold the 1520 (I almost went to digiexpo also only to see the 1520 :))

I think that the 1520 does look good but, for me at least, I think it's too big. 4.8", maybe 5" at a push, is the largest screen size I would have.

The 6" phablet is certainly a niche market, but it's good to see Nokia release something to compete with the likes of the Note III. We'll see how they fare.

More WP devices can only mean a good thing.

I have a few really big friends who a phone this size would be perfect for. (6'7"+) Comparable to somebody my size (5'8") using an 8x or something...

Its great for people that want a bigger device and I wouldn't say its a niche market. You have no idea how many people here carry a phone the size of a Note 2-3.

Personally, 4.8" (maybe 5"?) is the limit for me. I just hope they make the tile rows available to <6" phones as well at some point.

For me 1520 is too big to hold on hand. But sure it is running much faster and taking good pictures than AtivS. It is up to you what you are looking for.
BTW, I don't like the 3-columns WP8.

The Note series is still well below 6", which is comfortable enough for most people. I'm fine with 5.5" or so, but 6" is pushing it a bit for me. Do you see a lot of people using the Galaxy Megas?

For me it's important that a phone can fit in my pocket and I believe the same goes for almost all men who don't carry purses around!
Being a short fellow, the Ativ S sometimes leaves a corner out so I guess the 1520 would simply not fit and get dropped all the time. Even if I was willing to pay that load of cash those 6" would be a deal breaker in spite of the amazing specs.
There probably will also be some trouble finding car mounts that can hold both the size and weight of this beast.
