Battery life on a 920

Hi,

Just a quick(ish) comment.....

My 920 has nothing running in the background except Battery Sense. Everything is blocked in the background ( blocked. Not blocked until the app is next opened. ).

My phone is on charge from around 10pm to 5.30am whereupon it shows 100%.

I use the phone lightly till about 7.30am while traveling to work (some fb, emails and WPC of course heh).

Between 7.30am and 7.30pm the phone is off except for 5 minutes at 9.40am, 15 minutes at 12pm and another 5 minutes at 3pm, and all I do is check my emails.

When I turn the phone back on (while traveling home), the phone shows around 35% battery left.

Any idea why this is, or possibly a way to improve this? The phone is next to useless unless I can improve the life of the battery.

Can I get replacement higher power batteries? Are they any good, and how easy is the battery to change in the 920?

Anyway, end of comment, ;) For now, mwhahaahhahhah, :D

By the way. I love this phone and currently have a couple of apps in development for it :D:D:D

Thank you. The issue I have is that even though my phone is turned off most of the day, I still lose approximately 65%, which indicates that something is wrong.

is connect to xbox on? auto upload to skydrive?
nfc? bluetooth?
glance screen, double tap to wake?
do you have any apps open? I know you said you have blocked stuff, but do you have apps on the multitasking screen?

I also found that battery tracking apps often contribute to the battery drain

also, by off do you mean like completely turned off, or just with locked screen not being used?

Connect to Xbox is off, as is glance. NFC, Bluetooth etc. All apps are closed and none showing on the multitasking screen.
Upload to SkyDrive is on but only WiFi uploading. I turn the phone off completely, as in hold the button done and swipe down to turn off.
I might turn off the battery app :)

if the phone is completely off, then it's not the apps or the background tasks, there might be something wrong with the battery. Try cycling it a few times and if it doesn't help then I'd contact Nokia

I've done the cycling over the last week with no joy. I'm going to backup as much as I can then reflash the software. I'll see if it improves but if it doesn't I'll invade phones4u and get a replacement :D

I had a similar issue to you and the only fix that worked for me was a factory reset. Try that before reflashing the ROM as it would be a little simpler. Since doing that eight months ago I have had no mysterious battery drains

I intended to reflash the ROM anyway, cos I flashed the French GDR2 ROM a while back as the EE GDR2 was taking too long lol. Not sure whether to use the EE GDR2 ROM or the UK CV ROM.

I have the same problem as you do. I tried hard reset it but still didn't help. I though it was battery problem so I took it to Nokia Care and have them replaced a new battery yesterday.. but problem still happened today! I thought it was caused by Foursquare or Track My Life, I removed them and soft reset the phone.. but it does the same. What's going on? The problem happened around 22 Nov. Till now still happening.

Have you received app update notification for the past few days?

I Had the Same issue, my battery life was So bad, it was always giving me 6/10 hours per charge ! I searched on the internet and tried it all .. Disabled All .. Uninstalled Facebook and Skype then installed them again ... They said also that the battery is improving after a lot of life cycles ... Then One day, I let the phone Drain until it's 0% and Enabled the Airplane mode then put it to charge ..
when it was full that day I noticed some improvement .. The day after I upgraded my software to GDR3 by the developers preview .. Now there is a BIG DIFFERENCE !! it's my first time to let the WIFI open all day .. and the first time that my battery stay for 1day and 9 hours !! (but when you update to GDR3 you'll lose the warranty until the Official one Comes

bytheway Don't Waste your money changing the battery, Because it's a Software issue .. many people like me had the same problem and fixed it by time without any Change of battery

Instead of turning off the Phone to save battery, turn the airplane mode ON. Because Turning The phone On takes a lot of battery

I cannot use airplane mode. The phone has to be turned off. My workplace does random checks and if your phone is found to be on (even in airplane mode) then its a disciplinary offence. Pathetic rules I know,but its their rules :(
