Out of curiosity, which US carrier would this device work best on?
If you are asking where the RM-937 sold by Expansys will work, the answer is AT&T and T-Mobile for 2G (GSM/EDGE) and 3G (UMTS/HSPA) and none of them for 4G (LTE). Obviously, any of the smaller carriers and pre-paid mobile operators that really use the AT&T and T-Mo networks will work, too, but they'll have the same no-LTE limitation.
Essentially, for LTE in the Americas, one needs the RM-938 or RM-940. The 940 is what AT&T sells, but they remove some features: half of the storage memory, the Qi wireless charging, and some of the communications things to make the phone less useful for T-Mo customers in some regions. (There may be other limitations, too, but I don't know for sure.) If you're willing to give up LTE speeds, the RM-937 sold by Expansys and others will provide you with
As tai4de2 said, the RM-938 will eventually come out. Since AT&T probably won't carry it (it would be confusing to have two 1520's), it could be picked up by T-Mobile. I think that it's more likely to be sold by a Canadian, Mexican, or Latin American carrier. (I don't know if the South American carriers use the same frequency bands for LTE as the U.S. does, but they might also be a future source for the 938.)
Until then, your choices are a hobbled 940 or wait. Or consider the 929 on Verizon when it comes out (now rumored for mid- to late-December). It has a 5" screen and no SD slot, and it works on Verizon's network instead of AT&T's. It also looks more like the 928 (black or white slab, not curvey, colored polycarbonate).
