Lumia 925 camera only taking 5MP photos?

After upgrading from my old Lumia 920 to the Lumia 925, I've noticed that the camera quality is way below the quality of my old phone. After using the phone for about two weeks now, I finally noticed that the MP of the photos are not 8.7MP. I was wondering if anyone knew why this is? I have looked into changing the capture mode settings, although it is not possible.

I attached a few screenshots. After taking a few photos, I noticed the MP had dropped to 5MP + 7MP. I am using the Nokia ProCam app.

Can you share the images.
The Images mite be oversampled ones.

Off course! I was just taking a few photos around my house this morning. I can include a couple outdoor pictures later. How ever I still get the same results. (Ignore the mess)

Im using the Nokia Camera app and get 7MP for 16:9 pictures... I get 8MP for 4:3 pictures... check in the settings ... or maybe update it to the Nokia Camera app

yes even i observed the change in my 925 when i upgraded...its 5+7 in 920 and only 7 in 925..??can any body explain the reason

I can't explain the 920 5+7 but the 7 on the 925 is because of the 16:9 ratio... If you change it to 4:3 it takes 8mp pictures... Its like that on other platform phones as well... The MP is based on 4:3 pictures so when its zoomed for 16:9 pictures the mp has to go down

Go into your camera app, go to settings.

Set ratio to 4:3 if you want full resolution photos

The 5 + 7 means it took a over sampled 5mp image, however I'm not to certain why it'd do that.

For instance on the Lumia 1020, a 4:3 image is 5 + 38MP and a 16:9 is 5 + 34MP

Ahh I see! Thanks! I'll just have to get the 1020 then. I'm sort of a sucker for high quality. Especially when it comes to photos. I just loved the look/feel of the 925!

Also noticed this on my 925. Anyone know if this is due to updating to GDR3?

Edit: Just uninstalled and reinstalled Nokia Camera app and I'm back to 8MP. Odd.
