This is my experience on Black Update. Battey improved, to be able to close the app in Multi-tasking is convenient, auto rotation off is ok, temp files are now lessen. Unfortunately, the camera issues are still there

I was under the impression that the black update would give me the option to change the night clock colour, and have a pedometer,(step counter) on my glance screen, but no,why???

Pedometer was not promised for all Lumias but only for the 1520. The 920 lacks the hardware and hence its not enabled

I updated my NL920 to Lumia Black, it went fine with out any errors.

if am not wrong with Lumia lack update we can set our own ringtone, but this feature is not working in my device.

i went to settings-->ringtones+sounds-->Selected Ringtone-->am able to see default tones, how do set my own ringtone,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,? (i know using ringtone maker we can do)

Also let me know is battery performance improves with Lumia Black update,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,?

This ppl are not improving much better, all errors , in fact I loved only the camera performance, strength of the body , except this os is not all improving faster and rolling updates all also takes in a partial not releasing at one shot , MS r 3rd party I don't noe exactly took 6-7 month to improve Wt's app , that to not perfect some time tat software crashes for name sake they are release updates bt not felt much changes, I herds about 8.1 .. Paka I noe they ll release after some 8 months , till tat v should be waiting lik any think...haaaa every one ll be telling 8.1 ll be major update bt it ll be minor updates if they do exactly lik 8.1 concept which I saw the video I'll be very happy Bt I noe they can't... Plz do something ! Further I don't noe wt to tlk.. Sry for my bad English.& sry if I'm wrong any were......

If you go to Settings -> Glance screen you should be able to change Night Mode from Off to Red, Green or Blue. You can also set the times for the night glance. Pedometer will not work on L920.

You can use ringtone maker to select a song on your phone and make that into a ringtone. You should be able to select those in the menu you described. You can also use the sync software with your computer to sync ringtones (not 100% sure on the process there)

I have found quite a few bugs...
1) WhatsApp
- I can't increase or decrease the volume of WhatsApp videos (maybe WhatsApp requires an update and I did restart my phone just to ensure that it's not a problem but with no luck :/ )
- auto closes
2) yellowish tint and blurry images :/

I don't personally use WhatsApp so I can't help on that one. The Yellowish tint though has been known for a little while. Have a look at this thread which discusses it. It first appeared in the Amber update and it seems the tint still remains in the Black update.

Have you used ringtone maker or the desktop sync app to create ringtones? You can't pick songs from your music to be your ringtones, you have to assign them as ringtones and then you'll be able to use them as such.

I answered to his comment....the new black update doesn't let us set our music files as ringtones it just lets us assign ringtones to contacts....until and unless we connect our phone to a laptop/pc and move the music files to the ringtones folder...or use the ringtone maker app :) like you said :D

I had the error that the update could not be opened as well. But finally managed to install GDR3+Black on Indian 920. Took a little while to install though. I haven't particularly noticed massive battery drains as some people have reported. In fact, I find lesser drain happening when on 3G/H+ which wasn't the case earlier. Its pretty stable when on 3G standby. I believe the switching between 3G and H+ has been optimized which is showing a positive effect on the battery. Live tiles have finally started working albeit only when I connect to the internet. I don't understand why a battery tile should require the internet to update the battery status. But at least they are working now. The overall fluidity of the interface seems to have gotten better. Its slicker than ever before. However, there are a few things that are not pretty -

1. WhatsApp crashes every time upon start. I could not even open the app. I had to temporarily use Hike and Viber for IM. Uninstalled and re-installed and its working now. But sadly some older messages have vanished. :(
2. The settings page of the Music+Videos hub has become corrupted. I wanted to open the settings page and voila! - no settings to tap on. Don't know if this is an isolated issue. Since there is no way to "re-install" GDR3 update without doing a hard reset, I am trying to live with it. Would welcome if anybody has any suggestions for this. I cannot afford to hard reset the device right now.
3. The Bing search app suddenly stopped updating its image. It earlier used to update the image daily whenever I connect to the internet. Now its stopped altogether. But the lockscreen Bing wallpaper is getting updated regularly. I really don't get what could be the solution for this. Let me know if you have experienced this at sometime or the other as well.

So that's my experience. Will post if I notice anything else.

I have bugs with WhatsApp.....must be a problem with WhatsApp....wait for an update..!! and you should have done a message backup before uninstalling it :)
I don't have any settings for Music + Videos too

No problems with Bing as for now :) it updates the images regularly

the reason you don't have settings for Xbox music , the service is not available in your region/country same applies to my phone/country.

The Bing issue I've had randomly, too. No idea what caused or fixed it, but it usually takes a day or two for me on the "space" screen until I get the updated picture again.

I would have definitely done a backup - only if I could open the app. :) Although Xbox music isn't available in India, the settings page should be there. It was there before the update. My region settings haven't changed since then. For the standalone Xbox music app that was released recently, yes that requires a music pass subscription without which the app wouldn't even open. But the music hub is working just fine. Not sure if GDR3 has made the settings page available in Xbox enabled countries only. I can still access and play files in that though. I had noticed the space screen in the Bing app would remain static for quite sometime as well. But it used to update eventually. Now it doesn't update even after a few days. Not that it's a grave concern but it was a nifty thing to have.
