Where ever you decide to buy, try to avail this offer. You will get 20 GB of free space in SkyDrive for one year; regardless of where you buy it from. As long as its new. I'll PM you if I come along a good trustworthy deal online.

I think you must have just gotten a bad 820. I have had one for the past seven months and have had none of the problems you stated. I get over two days of battery life and since Black/GDR3 was installed my pictures are better than ever. Mine has the wireless recharging rear cover and with its 64GB SD card puts the 920/925 to shame as far as storage. Not that anything is wrong with the 720/920/925 but the 820 is one of the most versatile phones on the market. It was never promoted by Nokia/Microsoft and got lost in the 920 promotion. Too bad, I plan on keeping mine for quite awhile. Lets not forget it has a removeable battery,, and LTE also. I don't think the 720 has LTE.

Sadly LTE in India is only limited to Metros. At that the network isn't consistent. So mostly it switches between LTE and HSPA+. So users aren't really able to take full advantage of the LTE bandwidth.

820 has LTE capable hardware. India doesn't have LTE.

And to the OP, don't get the 720 now, if you have a choice wait a few months.

Since you've mentioned your requirements, the 720 does fit the bill. As for the 820, its a very good device. But with a 1650 mAh battery, it doesn't have a great battery back up as the 720. On a recent 700 KM road trip, I had navigation turned on the whole time with battery to spare at the end of the trip. Also the 820 not as sleek as the 720. But its quite a cute phone itself. But please note that the although the 820 has 8.7 MP camera, its not a Pure-view Camera. So not as good as the 920. The prices will be higher than the 720.

NOT 8.7. And it has 1gb ram while the 720 has just 512mb

Just adding that the 820 has an 8mp camera, still good, but isn't a Carl Zeiss camera (I do believe it is still a PurView one though, not 100% sure).
Pureview but not Carl Zeiss? How is that possible? If it's having Pureview, the it must definitely be a Carl Zeiss lens.....

Its available currently in Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. I'm not sure about Chennai. I use a Airtel LTE Dongle provided by my company. I've been using it for more than a year now. So I'm quite confident about the network inconsistencies.

Don't compare with 820 with 720 camera. 720 camera is 1000000 times better than 820 .820 camera in low light is very worst camp are to 720.when u take pics it is most grainy when u zoom. Also it gets green nd yellow tint.

Not necessarily. The 720 has a Carl Zeiss camera. But its not a Pure-View camera.
You misunderstood me... If a phone has Pureview, then it is obviously a Carl Zeiss lens, right? For example, 920 hs Pureview,so it is obvious that it has a Carl Zeiss lens.Whereas a phone without Pureview, like 820,720,520, etc
may or may not have a Carl Zeiss lens, for example,820 and 720 have Carl Zeiss lenses,520 does not.

But yours is an exception, right? Most 820's I have seen produce better images than 720,both theoretically and practically.....

Well it depends, for me I suggest you go for the 920 at least the price tag is not that bad now , well the 720 is a nice phone runs with the same processor as the 520 and even the same resolution, but the ppi is a bit little to that of the 520 even the 820 has the same resolution , you can still check all the specifications and comparisons at the Nokia website

I purchased a 1320 for my dad. In each and every aspect it is better than 720, except for camera and its capacitive keys doesn't illuminate.
