    Well,

I want to make this as simple as possible but it seems windows phone's aren't as simple as the android's I am used too. I used to be able to have a app called realplayer.. I just bunched my music in a music folder and then used another folder for each genre and BAM.. I was good too go. It doesn't seem to work like that on a windows phone.. So is there a program I use to make playlist, do I have to use windows media player on my Win7 pc or what do I need to do to get my playlist up and running.. Also.. Another big question.. can I run said music and playlist off my sd card or will playlist not work on the sd card?

I've found the easiest way is to select all songs and right click and add to windows media player list, type a name in windows media player and save. Go to windows Phone app or desktop program on PC and add playlist to phone, songs are automatically imported with the list. Takes less than a minute.

And yes it will all go to Sd if you have it set to in phone settings.

You can even skip the windows media player step and go directly into windows explorer.
So I'd say do not "dribble", just "shoot".

You can create playlists directly on the phone or sd card by selecting the songs, rightclicking, create playlist and give the thing a name.

    Instant playlist DONE.

If you keep albums in seperate folders, you can create a playlist for each album in each folder that way.

    So to recapulate :

    1. Connect phone to PC

    2. Go to where your songs are stored in windows explorer

    3. Select songs -> rightclick -> create playlist
    playlist1.png

    4. Type a name for the ".pla" file created and press enter.
    playlist2.png

Disconnect and check on the phone. Your playlist will be there with the songs you had selected.

Nothing else needed but windows explorer.

PS: Should you get an "error" message saying : "The playlist could not be created in this location. The device has become unresponsive or has disconnected."... then just check the syntax of the playlist name. It will probably contain a "." or a "&" or other disalowed syntax. Correct it and the error will be gone.

    Problems with this method in the previous post are;
Backups of the playlists are not made. (When made with WMP they are auto saved to Music folder on your PC and are easily re-added if needed.)
It's more difficult to make mixes from several different folders.
You must transfer music to phone first, this is the most frustrating and time consuming if you don't want all your music on the phone.
Must disconnect. (Using Windows Phone desktop/W8 app they are available on the fly.)

Off course I didn't think that far. I'm used to just make a playlist for every album and be done, and don't really need backups...
The option mentioned is indeed only best for quick album setup on your phone.

Well, I have messed things up. I went to connect today and the windows phone app asked if I wanted to sync my phone to the new computer.. Its the same computer I used last time. So it proceeded to remove my playlist and most of my music.. Now wmp won't sync the playlist back.. Its almost like it doesn't recognize my device. So by deleting everything off my SD card and phone.. I restarted PC and phone.. Wmp acted normal and I selected sync now and it must have took a hour to sync.. But when I got to Nokia music.. Select playlist.. It shows my playlist but when you click on it.. It says no music inside.. Please connect to PC.
So is there just a way to start all over again with my phone and wmp? I have no idea where to go from here.. I know I'm making this more complicated than it needs to be.. I guess I'm just used to android.

...sounds fun. Sorry to hear about this. Do you get the same thing when using Xbox Music and Video? If it works there, try re-installing Nokia Music.

Or if you want to start from scratch, delete everything in Music folders on SD and phone, make sure you have view hidden files enabled in explorer but IMO it is better to delete everything using Windows Phone app/desktop program, it automatically deletes from both locations. Make sur you can't see any music in the phone, check Xbox and Nokia Music.
