It been a while since i posted, i only really use my 1020 as an alarm timer for my tablets 3 times a day and a few phone calls, i have had it for over a year, I am now at 63% and the estimated time remaining is 3 days 6 hours, and time since last charged is 2 days 2 hours, and battery save is off and my hardware revision is 4.4.0.2

That sounds brilliant, John. Wish my 1020 was like yours. Mine's still at Nokia Care Centre and I've been waiting for it to come back after their second attempt to repair this battery draining.

Most likely your battery has been used a lot more heavily than mine has, is there any apps that show the battery wear level like on normal windows laptops? if there is you could try to calibrate your battery by charging to 100% and then discharging it till the phone turns off, then fully charge while off, turn it on and read the battery wear level, if you have a wear level of 15% that means 15% of your battery no longer works so your battery life will be that much shorter and that is why your 1020 appears to be discharging the battery faster than when new.

Also i try not to run the battery below 20% and not charge above 80% if i catch it in time, need an battery level alarm app, i have loads for android, as this can damage your battery over time.

Hi John, it was originally used as a company mobile so I assume that it has been used more than yours. But after Nokia replaced the battery, it was still same. Fortunately I had warranty so I can keep coming back to them until they convince me with the reason ;)

Yes I read battery calibration elsewhere in other thread and I was doing effectively same, run the battery till the phone switched off itself, then charged back again to 100%. But I have never such a bad battery draining with any of my mobile (well, since Nokia 6210 through to recent smart phones like iPhone, Samsung S4, Note4). I also understand someone was saying that this issue came from Windows OS, but like your mobile phone, some people seems to be getting decent battery life and I'm not sure if it's Windows OS, I would rather think it's either battery itself or somewhere handset causing this issue.

I noted your tip to keep battery level between 20% and 80% which I had read elsewhere. Thank you for your advice.

Hopefully I can get it back next week to see if Nokia manage to rectify.

Some application that you might be using that i do not might be the cause of your battery drain, have you tried a full wipe and then do not download any app for a day or so to see how your battery goes.

Hi John, yes actually I didn't install anything except a battery app which shows statistics of ratio of battery draining. I did hard reset, and even deleted some default apps - but the battery was draining for about 10% or over / hour.

What's up with the battery and its battery saver app? It's been 14 months since I bought it from Nokia retail store, and the battery life gets lengthier? Used to have between 15-18 hours per full charge, this morning it showed 1 day +, and that is after 7 hours disconnected from the charger. What's the longest battery life u guys have on ur 1020?

Before and after battery saver mode activated:

Yeah to my experience, the prediction is not always correct. When I put my phone to battery saver and flight mode, only a percent drops every 9 hours (that too on a 620, with the smallest battery capacity). If that rate continues, my battery could last days, even a couple of weeks, but it always shows 1 day 15 hours.

Even my L620 always shows 1 day 15hrs backup but i actually get around 4-5 hrs max even if i don't use my phone.currently not using my L620.
I am experiencing this issue since Oct last year when i received cyan update.
I discussed this issue on this forum :http://forums.windowscentral.com/no...ow-do-i-connect-my-nokia-lumia-620-my-pc.html but wasn't of much help. So finally i visited Nokia Care in my city, they said that my phone's PCB is faulty and needs to be replaced but they can't replace it here and will have to send it to chennai (India) to Nokia facility.

By having Double Tap on, the phone is constant monitoring the screen. It's almost like the screen is always on because the phone is always waiting for the touch. Plus, if high sensitivity is on with double tap, then your phone has a chance to open and **** dial someone. Also, draining the battery.

Just a point on this: when the screen is covered i.e. in your pocket the prox sensor turns the screen off and the double tap. its only when the sensor picks up movement that double tap starts to work again. so it cant be double tap so much?

Finally I got my 1020 back - when I visited Nokia Care shop and the guy took it out from the vinyl bag, it was on. To my surprise, the battery was still 67%;

Estimated time remaining: 1 day 1 hour
Time since last charge: 3 days 2 hours

Wonder if 3 days 2 hours included when it was off, right?? Options like Location, NFC were on, touch sensitivity high, auto display brightness, Wifi on, Glance - interval. He told me Nokia replaced a battery (again), also back panel/case. It came with protector on the back case.

I'm now resetting to re-configure it before let it run to see how it goes :)

Mine is 3051.50009.1424.0004, hardware revision 4.4.6.2.

After I charged to 100%, I'm checking how it's going now. Things look good and Nokia got it right this time, I think. As I went out for drinks last night, I set to flight mode to see how it goes as it went down like 10% before even in flight mode.

I finished charge at 17:37, it was 100% until 22:45. Then I turned flight mode off, turn on wifi at midnight, updated all apps that I needed (I couldn't do this during daytime). I had around 30+ apps to update. At 00:35 it went down to 97%. I left it to sleep and it went down further to 90% at 8am. Then I turned on Location services and did some browsing, emails and now 87% at 10:30am. Discharging rate is something like 1-3% so far. I'm glad to have 1020 working properly with right battery consumption :) Will let it down to die at this time to see how long / many hours it lasts!

My observation on the topic is that these types of issues increase during the winter. Batteries drain much faster in the cold! Make sure you keep your phone warm by putting it in your pants pocket or breast pocket of your jacket. This should improve the battery life quite a bit.

It looks like it. I have taken 30+ pictures, and used wifi, location randomly where I needed without using battery saver. Installation of apps seems consume energy and whilst I was playing around in the morning, it came down to 8% at 10:38am. I turned on battery saver and put it into flight mode to see how long ti can survive. Now it's 1:13pm (around 2 hours 30 minutes since I put it into flight mode) and the battery still stays at 8% :D

I will let it run till it switches off at this time, but I'm amazed at how much the back panel replacement is making difference! Shame that I couldn't get exact details of what was going wrong with my 1020 before they decided replace it. (The guy I spoke to at Nokia Care shop wasn't quite sure either as the document didn't say anything other than "Replace back panel, replace battery".)

As far as I have seen/read on some websites, people were saying battery drain issue might have been caused because of Windows, but my case has proved that actually it wasn't Windows but it came from somewhere hardware issue at least for 1020.

For a record, my 1020 ran out of battery at past 1:30am early this morning. Although I put it into flight mode at 10:38am yesterday, I'm impressed that the battery lasted more than 2 full days when I used intensely at some points. Possibly if I use most of options on (e.g. Radio/data, Bluetooth, Location, Wifi) all the time, I guess it'd be about a day or so which is acceptable from what I went through before Nokia rectify the issue.

[Summary]
30/01/2015 17:37 100% Charged, switched to flight mode
30/01/2015 22:45 100% (was in flight mode)
31/01/2015 00:35 97%
31/01/2015 08:00 90%
31/01/2015 10:30 87% (I was out, taking 30+ pictures, using maps with Location, Wifi etc.)
01/02/2015 06:25 23%
01/02/2015 07:48 18%
01/02/2015 10:38 08% (switched to flight mode)
01/02/2015 13:13 08% (was in flight mode)
01/02/2015 14:36 07% (was in flight mode)
01/02/2015 16:28 06% (was in flight mode)
01/02/2015 17:31 05% (was in flight mode)
01/02/2015 22:12 04% (was in flight mode)
01/02/2015 22:39 03% (was in flight mode)
01/02/2015 01:30 03% (was in flight mode)

After this, it switched off (not sure exact time). Sorry for not being able to put more information such as when I turned on options, or other detailed timeframe, but overall I can say now I'm happy with the battery performance and will try to calibrate for the first several charges.
