If I could go back in time I would have chosen a L920.
Pureview and OIS being the main factor.

If I was to buy a new phone now it would be a L1520. The features and power it has will convert you to Windows.

The 820 probabaly wont impress yo u that much

my friend is suggesting me to buy a new lumia 525 rather than old lumia 820
can u all please
suggest which one will the better option

I think you buy neither, at this time I think you can buy a 920 with only a little bit additional price. The only drawback is the lack of SD card slot.

I would suggest you to wait for better Lumias. A Lumia 920 or 925 are better and they aren't that much expensive. In fact here, the 920 costs merely US$10-15 and the 925, US$20. And the 820 itself costs at the very affordable price at US$250-280!

(In case you still wanted an 820, battery management is just alright but not consistent. Sometimes, I can get to 5 hours of heavy usage and another time, I can get 2 hours. At most, if I am lucky, 9 hours.
Camera is good, certainly much better than my previous Xperia SP but perhaps, slightly above average in the cameraphone's world.)

In short, buy the 920 or 925. Best value of money. If you need more memory, the 920 is perfect for you - 32 gigs of memory should be enough for you. :)

The 820 is still an excellent phone even with all the great new lumias. The only ones that beat it are the 92X's, Icon, 1020, 1320, and 1520. In my opinion, it's overall better than anything in the 500, 600, and 700 series.

I have a used AT&T 820 in excellent condition that I got for a great price. The 820 is my backup phone (to my Nexus 5) and media player. I love watching youtube videos, and having an AMOLED screen and larger screen. The 820 has a lot of features that I enjoy, such as an SD slot and replaceable battery. Compared to a lot of the other Windows phones on the market, the 820 has all it all (Glance, FFC, NFC, camera flash, and wireless charging capability), where many of the other phones lack one or more of these features. It'll upgrade to WP8.1.

If one is patient and willing to buy used on eBay, there are some good 820's to be had for < $100, even between $70 and $90. If you are lucky, maybe a 920 for $100. I went for the 820 because of the lower cost, microSD slot, replaceable battery and AMOLED screen.

i have to disagree with that! I am perfectly happy with my lumia 820, usually get a full day of use from it (45 minutes each way on my commute of solid browsing and music some video) then texting, calling, emailing and checking twitter throughout the day. On top of that it has a brilliant camera.

Guyz i m a android user but

i want to shift to windows(lumia 820)

is it worth buying the same now?????????

Any suggestions???????????????

Even I wanted to buy a Lumia 820. But finally bought a Lumia 625 as budget was short. Trust me L820 is a v.good device for the money. In Indian Market the price is around 20k (Calcutta i'm talking about). But I would suggest u add an extra 3k and go for the Lumia 1320... Its a BIG screen device and is again bang for the buck...

I'd recommend you to buy a lumia 920 or the 925. They are both very good and their build quality is very good. They definately deserve the money. The camera is awesome, the screen is perfect super-sensitive and the battery is very good.

Exactly if u want performance nd battery life go for Lumia 9xxx series.they are only phones fir the value you pay.u can enjoy the best camera with this exception Lumia 720.with Lumia 820 u wont get any benefit because of low battery which wont last if u want to use it as smartphone.

I just picked up a lumia 820 and a really like it so far. It feels really well made and solid and I like having a removable battery and micro sd card slot. Popped in my 128GB micro sd card and now I have my whole music collection with me! My plan to workaround the poor battery life everyone is talking about is to bring a spare battery with me and swap batteries when my battery gets low. I've been doing this with all of my phones I've had before.

Actually my international 820 has better battery life than my dads AT&T 920. Battery capacity isn't always indicative of real life performance especially when one screen is amoled and the other is LCD.

Exactly. All these people who complains that the battery is horrible, they probably uses white theme on their 820 or don't actually own it. The 820 is seriously underrated, I must say.

And you can swap batteries on it plus, you can use it very heavily for 4.5 hrs, which is pretty good. You can always buy power bank or swap batteries unlike phones with battery embedded. Worst battery - NO

The Lumia 800 series is a very well balanced device.

However, I would advice against purchasing a Lumia 820 because it's battery life is notorious.

On the other hand, I will highly recommend the Verizon Lumia 822 (It is factory unlocked out of the box)
It has a bigger battery, 16gb of Storage, Gorilla Glass 2 Screen.

Hope this helps.

what???, the 820 has excellent battery life
i had the 625 while my phone was with my friend(we exchanged with each other for a week out of curiosity) but it is just a larger 620 but a step down from a 720+ windows phone

lol u do realize the 822 is a cdma carrier dependent device and certain carrier devices dont get updates easily or at all
as for battery life the 820 has excellent battery life and the 822 has only 150 mah extra of battery , how is it "better" than 820 then? 10 minutes of extra use?

I would happily replace my 820 with another 820 if it got nicked but of course the question of buying one depends on the big factor of how much it would cost. I was considering a 920 but much too big for my hand and at the time not available in the UK with my preferred service provider anyway.

Battery life is fine, well over a day under normal use, but I perhaps do take care not to go mad with usage if I am out and about away from a charging point: I have chargers downstairs, upstairs, in the car, in my work bag and in my leisure bag and a portable car jump starter with AUX power sockets useful for camping weekends. So only really need to take care when going out in the wilds for a day trek and make sure it is properly fully charged to start with (ie not just when the phone says it is fully charged) and take my old phone on PAYG as back up.

Perhaps a better question is: Which is the best WM phone currently on the market would you recommend to a happy 820 owner if they needed to replace it for some reason?
