Hello fellow 820 users.

I thought i'd make a wishlist if Nokia releases a Lumia 830.

4.5" - 4.7" 1280x720 HD
2GB RAM
16GB Mass Memory
Pureview camera (8MP - 12MP)
Front facing 720p

Quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400
Adreno 330
2000mAh batteryGorilla Glass

Add the specs you would like if Nokia releases a Lumia 820 replacement.
I would like to keep the SD card slot and removable battery but they can be sacrificed for a better spec 830

Aaaaaah delusions lets entertain oursleves....

If Nokia releases 830 with these specs it wld actually be 1520 mini of sorts and cld eat into 930's market.
I am expecting the following
4.5" 720p display
Snapdragon 6xx Adreno 32x
and 1GB Ram
13mp rear pureview with dual led flash and 2.1 mp 720p front
16gb internal + 128 GB SD card expansion
And a 2300 mah battery.

The 820 had exactly the same hardware (CPU, GPU and RAM) as the 920 so I dont see why the 830 should deviate from that.

It also caused an identity crisis for that phone back then when 720 was announced.
But the reason why both 820 and 920 had same specs back then was bcos wp8 support only snapdragon S4 but since it now supports the whole range of snapdragons I think 6xx is a more sensible choice.

Definitely as a Lumia 820 user I would like the battery life to improve in the next Lumia 830.nd screen should be 4.7 inch with 720p display with internal memory 16 gb minimum with microsd slot.i repeat battery has to improve or else it will fail like Lumia 820

Totally agree with you on the battery capacity.

Battery life used to be a problem for me until Gdr3.

It still needs a higher capacity battery that's for sure.
Its the only real handicap. Nevertheless my friend complains his iPhone5 has poor battery life as well. The 820 is not too bad but yes it certainly needs improvement.

I would like an AMOLED screen, OIS on the camera and better quality pic, noise cancelling mic's, IR blaster (wishful thinking). I agree about the higher battery capacity.

Removable battery and SD expansion.
Bump it up to 16 GB
Maybe an OIS-equipped 720-caliber snapper.
Keep it at 4.3" or bump up to 4.5", resolution bump would be nice.

Don't forget the shells! Maybe push those harder.
Integrated Qi is always nice.
How was the 820's "scratch resistant glass"?

I've had my 820 for 13 months. I'm on my second digitizer/screen.
The first screen got scratched due to my poor handling. It got scratched then I put on a screen protector and then a silicone case after I dropped it. The screen cracked about a month later. Installed new digitizer and used screen protector and had no problems. Since start of this year I have been using no protection and so far so good.
I dont put it in my pocket with coins or keys and its all good.
Have even done away with the silicone case unless it gets thrown in my backpack.
The screen is durable but I know I'm takin a risk, its not Gorilla glass thats for sure.

I don't how HOW much better will the 830 be, because I think Nokia will not want to have not proper flagships take on the last flagship. So I think that L830 would still be limited to 1 GB ram and normal camera, not OIS. It would be nice to have 1.5 GB, but I know WP8.1 doesn't know how to handle this number. The camera itself will be of PureView nomenclature now. Maybe some 10-12 MP? L820 already has 8.7 MP.

However, I fully expect a better CPU, maybe Qualcomm 400/600. I think the chances for a Q800 are slim to none Nokia could afford the same S4 in L920 and L820 because it was already cheap compared to the then S4 quad cores and Q600. They won't do charity now with a Q800. Display would be 4.3-4.7", 720p. The design language seems to have changed to the Asha/Icon boxy design. I expect 16 GB of storage with SDcard. A 1.3 MP 720p front facing camera. A bigger battery. 1850-2200.

I think that for the moment the L830 would again have changeable shells while the L730 would remain the one with Unibody design.

The 820 has a 8mp camera

If I remember correctly, the 820 uses the camera of the Lumia 900.
So I think the 830 should at least sport the camera of the 920.

I hate to say it as a devoted 820 user who thinks it is (or was) one of the best phones for the money in the market. What makes anyone think they will come out with a 830 anyway. If they did I would be one of the first in line. But I have my doubts it will ever happen. Look how long they kept it on the market, very short. If they keep the removeable battery, great screen and SD slot, wireless chargeable back cover and the other things that made it a special midrange phone I am all for it. I think it and the 730 may never see the light of day. Sad; but a good possibility.

I dont hold any hopes for a replacement either but its fun just to have a guess.

After checkin out other peoples suggestions I have revised my specs for a premium mid range phone.

4.5" 1280x720 HD (L925 screen)
1GB RAM
16GB Mass Memory
Pureview camera (8.7MP) (L925 cameras)
Front facing 1.3P 720p

Quad-core 1.9 GHz Krait 300
Adreno 320
2420mAh battery (L930 battery)
Gorilla Glass 3

Lol its pretty much a 925 with updated CPU n GPU

The 830 should be a 930 for people that want a smaller device.

So same CPU and RAM as 930, maybe less Flash but with SD card slot.

A downgraded camera - still with Zeiss lens and flash, but without any Pureview features like oversampling zoom or OIS.

A screen >4 inch and <4.5 inch. 1280x768 (15:9) with hardware Back/Windows/Search/Camera buttons.

If you want a bigger screen and the Pureview bells and whistles, get a 930.

The TMO variant shouldn't be dropped after 8 months. Honestly if Nokia wants to hoist a good midrange device on me it'll need to match what Samsung has rumored for their midrange device.

-720p screen If it'll be larger than 4.5 inches I'll be surprised.
-Snapdragon 600 chip
-expandable memory and replaceable battery.
-They can toss in the camera from the 920 or 925. That would be a nice bonus, and cheap.
-16 gigs of storage can be hoped for, but I won't be surprised with 8 gigs now that 8.1 allows for sd card apps.

I'm honestly not expecting much out of it, and I'm disappointed that Nokia hasn't even rumored a midrange yet. Considering it's the oldest device in the lineup, it's past due to have a successor on the horizon.

I agree toss in the 925 camera would be cheap and yes 8GB would be enough if it still has SD card. There are rumoured Nokia devices on the way later this year.

Maybe 2 years after 820s release we may finally see a successor!!

720p 4.5 inches
8GB RAM
SD card
925 Pureview main camera
822 front camera
Snapdragon 600
2000mAh battery
Gorilla glass

Y'know... at the rate all this is going. I would not be surprised if the next midrange would be branded under the Microsoft logo. With this in mind... I hope they adopt a Surface type design for the phone. Vapor MG casing would be sweet.

To all those predicting a snapdragon 600: not happening.
At the same clock rate, a S600 requires more juice than a S800, meaning it's basically a dead SKU at this point. A L830 will either include a S800 or something below the S600.
