duration of phone ringer

Hi,
i don't know whether this is a Lumia 620 issue or one of the phone company. I have a Nokia Lumia 620 (Windows 8) and find that the duration of the ring when someone rings me is quite short. Meaning that quite often I don't get to the phone quickly enough to pick it up.

Is there a setting (where???) which I can adjust?

I went thru a LOT getting this fixed. It was an issue with the phone provider, AIO in my case. Because each provider doubtless has their own voicemail number it would be senseless of me to show you the code sequence that worked for me.
