Hey, make sure you check GroupMe. You can text someone if they don't have the app. It's a hybrid app between ip and SMS. I honestly think it's the best buy bit menu use it... Buy again, you don't need them to use!

You can use hike for sending free sms or else just search for free sms software in the store there are many apps that can help you.

I've been using TextMe since google dumped support for Google Voice. Works well enough but doesn't support group chats. However, you can link the number they give you to GroupMe and add that capability.
