New to 1320 but I've noticed no mentions on outdoor visibility. It's fantastic. camera is poor and probably purposeful since $300 US is a great deal. battery life is great. Over 2 days of use for me. using 8 (not 8.1). Glance screen another nice feature. Flash has low light output. Getting 10Mbit/s on hspa.
Camera really upsetting. No worse than 520 but just seems purposeful.

^^helps prove my point!

A good friend is pondering between 1320 and some android device (Moto G or something.) I have convinced him on the OS, but the device is a bit of a hitch. He likes the 1320. But just wanted to ask what are the glitches in the device - Mind you, NOT in the OS. In the device 1320.

Hey XOLARIUM

First off, thanks for recommending WP to a friend. That is the only way WP will grow, because most people aren't comfortable buying non-mainstream computing devices! Great!

Second, recommending any computing device is always a risky business, because any problem your friend has he'll likely fault you for, and as we all know, no computing device is perfect. If you can, spend some time with your friend at a store and try out the 1320 in person. In particular try out the apps people are reporting issues with (instagram images scrolling, XBOX games app images scrolling, stutter while changing from landscape to portrait orientation, etc). I've seen videos that look pretty bad.

Good luck!

btw im just curious about one thing- how come 1320s gpu is critisized to be slower than even the low end lumias? is it really true?or is it a 8.1 issue or something
i havent seen the issues mentioned in person but im just curious

Lower than low end?
Thats new to me.

Most ( negative ) talk comes from people who never even touch one.
Heard from a friend who heard it from....
....everybody is suddently a wp/nokia specialist.......untill it comes to first hand experience ...nada.

A relative good site for comparison is phonearena.

I definitely wouldn't describe it that way.

It's a messy issue. In a nutshell, the Lumia 1320, 520 and 720 all use the same GPU, the Adreno 305 (as a caveat, also note that not all Adreno 305's are created equal). However, the 1320 must do much more work to achieve the same fluidity. Example:

Lumia 520 display = 480x800 = 384,000 pixels * 30 frames per second = 11,520,000
Lumia 1320 display = 720x1080 = 777,600 pixels * 30 frames per second = 23,328,000

So, a Lumia 520 must draw over 11 million pixels per second to keep your display scrolling/animating smoothly. If a Lumia 1320 is to achieve the same fluidity however, it must draw over 23 million pixels per second, but it doesn't have any "extra horsepower" with which to achieve that task! This is a very simplistic explanation, but it's primary purpose is to be comprehensible, not comprehensive.

All other 720p devices, like the Lumia 920, use an Adreno 225 GPU. The Adreno 305 is 2013's mid range GPU (not low-end, and definitely not lower than low-end), while the Adreno 225 is 2012's high end GPU. While the Adreno 305 is the equal of the of the 225 in most disciplines, it lags behind the Adreno 225 in some places. If the OS or apps make use of those features where the 305 lags behind the 225, then we will notice a difference in rendering performance between the 1320 and any/all other WP devices with a 720p display. How exactly this all plays together is anyone's guess, but it does appear that some of the more attentive users are noticing unappreciated differences.

As a nod to SsSgt Bruskowiz criticisms, I too am one of those people who have never personally laid eyes on a 1320, but I don't think it's necessary to hold a device to be able to judge it. IMHO online videos and some expertise in hardware/software can go a long way. At the very least I think it's safe to say the 1320 isn't the most fluid WP device out there. You might also want to take a look at this thread.

Finally, here is a short overview of the Adreno GPUs.

The camera app is quite slow. The photo's are good though!
I come from iOS with an iPhone 4S. Photo's were taken within a second ... I mostly miss the moment with my 1320.

Is this the default camera app or the Nokia Camera app? Or are they the same..?

I have purchased a Lumia 1320 just yesterday. I love the device. I am coming from using a Lumia 720 and also own a Lumia 925 as well as 1020. It may be because this is a new device, but since last 48 hours, not for one second have I felt the need of using my Lumia 925 or 1020. Neither do I miss my 720.

The only time I think I may miss my 1020 is when I go outdoors and want photos in the dark. I don't think I will be able to manage a small screen size in future. All in all, I haven't had a single issue with any app or scrolling. What I've noticed though is, camera gets photos grainy but if you use Nokia Camera app, you are looking at nearly as good as 720 quality of photos. Also, pictures in News app and WPCentral app look slightly less resolved compared to Lumia 925. But that is to be expected I guess.

I got this phone for ?45 (after selling my other device) so at that price, this is gold. For anyone paying full ?190-?200 for this phone, it is a steal!

And i thought I had a bargain. I paid about 160 ?
For the cameraapp, yes the Nokia cam is quite slow in comparison with the standard cameraapp.

Haha you sure must miss your 4S's for it's camera.

Apple has been using continuous focus in their camera apps since a pretty long time, Nokia is implementing it now for faster photo capture but sadly only in the newer Lumia range.

However Nokia has claimed that the Nokia Camera app in Lumia Cyan will have faster shot to shot times on all Lumias.

If you guys want faster shots always tap to focus on the subject before taking an image, if you want less grain try to keep ISO as low as possible and adjust white balance for better photos.

Noise really isn't a problem, lots of phones have this problem, even flagship ones like HTC One M8. So noise shouldn't really be your concern, it's okay.

It's the defailt Windows Phone camera I used. I've now downloaded the Nokia Camera app.
And, well call me critic or negative, but ... it's annoying that even when you turn flash off the camera still lights up the backlight for one second in order to take a sharp photo. I believe there are many reasons why it does this - but the simple thing is my iPhone didn't.

Thought you were sarcastic on your first sentence. The camera in the 4S is good, even when it's hard to say what's good and what's not the phone's now 3 years old and it still did the job. I'm very happy to hear we'll have the continuous focus in all the Lumia's available.

Lol not all Lumias. Only Lumia 1520, 930 and Icon.

Nokia hasn't confirmed if other Lumias will get continuous focus, ever.

But if your interested I could tell you about a camera app that has continuous focus and snaps photos pretty quick.

I've been using a 1320 for a couple of weeks now and can't put it down. It's certainly not sluggish. I find it faster than the 1020 I was using. I love the bigger screen and not sure I could go smaller again - great size for a phone and great side for a tablet (books newspapers MS Office etc). Camera is ok in good light and not so good in dark. Overall I'm really impressed by this phone especially at the price.

I don't understand why anyone would call this camera "horrendous" - it clearly does the job, really well for any phone in this cost bracket. I don't expect a 1020 quality photograph, but what I've captured using my Lumia 1320, is decent - more than decent. Using Nokia Camera as default. Totally natural photos, nothing edited, no filters nothing - just vanilla.
