Just ordered my first WP device. Lumia 1520

Hey everyone. Just ordered a Lumia 1520 (black) , my first ever windows phone 8/8.1 device. so excited.. for 480$ + 10$ shipping. Good deal eh? This huge device is hard to find in Lebanon and usually the price is so high like 600$.

I know that all the basic social apps are there. Must have apps for windows phone?

I currently use an iPhone 5S 32GB and no im not going to ditch my iPhone (cant wait for iOS 8 and Yosemite).

cool. i really appreciate ur interest, that u ordered directly a flagship as ur first device rather than trying the basic ones.

Just curious. As I understand from Nokia website, the black colour polycarbonate is made from recycled plastics. Just wondering the long term effects - will it flake, self-disintegrate, chip off, etc, especially for those living in the tropical areas?

I couldn't imagine having to use an iPhone again after switching to Windows Phone. I've owned 4 WP devices, and this is the best one yet. Enjoy.

Good choice bro...be sure to use Nokia's gift app to redeem app vouchers...i used it to buy good quality photography apps....proshot...tiny planet...adobe Photoshop...etc...really helps and adds value to an already good camera....then buy the Wpcentral app to get latest updates on good apps...the best YouTube client is metrotube...the best media player is Moli....and I really have noo complains with WhatsApp...fb messenger....facebook beta....nokia cam beta....all these apps are all I need to get through...plus there are many more...enjoy your Lumia made more perfect with these lovely essential apps

It's a shame the FlashVideo app is no longer in the store, but if you can dev unlock your phone and sideload it, get it. If you're a sports fan I also highly recommend downloading FlashSports.

6sec is available as a Snapchat client.

Don't forget ConnectivityShortcuts so you can pin Wifi and Bluetooth shortcuts straight to your start screen.

Bing News and CNN offer great live tiles to show off to your friends still using operating systems with static icons.

Aside from that, all the major, regular apps you want from other OS's are available.

I've been running the 1520 for a little while now and I am really happy with it. I am used to the large size and smaller phones actually feel too small now. Coming from the world of Android myself, I think you will be happy with your decision. Welcome to Windows!

I just recently bought my first WP which happens to be the yellow 1520. I ditched my iPhone 5S without question after spending a few days with it. I love it! Now if I could just find a pair of yellow Purity Pro Headphones here in Australia...
