Camera isn't a major concern to me. I am pleased with my L925 I bought a few weeks ago. Camera aside...Is the 1020 that much better than the L925?

No, the 1020 is very similar to the 925 other than camera and double the ram. Now if you went to a 930 or 1520 they have more ram and a more advanced CPU so it is a more worthwhile upgrade.

Been thinking about getting my 1020 fixed. I miss the platform, but don't wanna use my 920 or 900. May try out the 1520.

Like others already said the 925 and 1020 share the very same internals, down to the display and the battery. Only difference is the amount of RAM which is two gigs on the 1020, and one on the 925. However there have been some discussion about that additional gig, some say it is kind of hardwired to the camera module and the OS itself can't really access it.

Last but not least keep in mind the 1020 has a pretty long delay between taking photos. Roughly four seconds. I don't know how fast the 925s shot-to-shot time is, but considering it has much less pixels to process you could shoot more photos within the same timeframe like you would on the 1020.

I'd rather look at either the 1520 or 930/Icon if you are looking for an upgrade to your 1020. All three initial WP8 PureView flagships, 920, 925 and 1020 basically share the same hardware. Only with the newer ones you get larger batteries, much more modern CPUs, fullHD screens and that 20 MP PureView camera.

I agree with the above posters. I was considering the 925 as an upgrade from my 920. It's light weight and a good looking phone, but the camera is a big deal for me and I was lucky finding the 1020 at half price and it has replaced all our point-and-shoot cameras (not the dslr), it's really impressive.

In a word, NO. If the camera isn't important to you, the 1020 really isn't an upgrade of any sort to the 925. I purchased my 1020 in April 2014 because the camera IS important to me and do I really love this phone. The pictures I've taken with my 1020 are amazing, and for me, the choice was one I am happy I made, despite my love for my previous 920. That said, the 1020 is just a 920 or 925 with a far better camera, and an extra gig of RAM dedicated to the camera and photo processing and without built in wireless charging and the bulk/heft associated with it--but as a 925 owner, you know all about the wireless charging shells.

If photography wasn't important to me, I'd have opted for the 1520 instead. Its bigger, faster, has SD storage and a massive battery. If it had 41MP, the 1520 would have been the right choice for me if ATT didn't gimp it by removing half the internal storage and wireless charging. Lots of "if's".
